FIRST DRIVE – New Vauxhall Corsa Electric – Can I love Vauxhall again ? | 4K

Time for my very first drive of the all new . A B Section finest seller that is offered in both fuel and electrical drive trains. As a kid I loved the Vauxhall made but they have falling from my radar over recent years. Is that ready to change?

interesting video, I prefer the previous generation limited edition with the spoiler the 1.4 L, but then it did have its engine problems. It would have a foul drop. And the drive belt would go any time which was always a bit concerning Thank you, Petrol ped

It would be interesting to do a comparison between Byd Dolphin, Vauxhall Corsa Ultimate and a 5 door electric Mini Countryman. Although, the Mini Countryman I notice is £10,000 more than the Corsa or Dolphin cars. I suspect that there will be an electric version of the Mini 5-door hatch, which I have no doubt possibly would be priced similar to the Corsa and Dolphin.

Great video. Really enjoying the channel. Its a shame, Vaxhaull used to have some incredible hot hatches. I remember my grandad taking me out in his Vectra GSi V6 from 2000. Unfortunately vaxhuall has lost its way.

The cost of an electric Corsa is frankly insane! I wouldn’t even consider one.

There are 680 Corsa EVs on the road. I’m surprised it’s that many.

£38,000 for the EV ‘Ultimate’. £38,000 for a Corsa! I just bought a brand new GTI ClubSport with everything for £41,000 ….

From what I can see it’s not a major change from the outgoing model. Key thing with any EV is realising if it’s fit for YOUR purpose. Our MINI electric is perfect as our daily with us covering minimal miles per day. The Corsa electric is a bargain on the second hand market, with cheapest models from around the £10k bracket and equivalent to many ICE cars. I know where my money would go

I agree with you that Vauxhall have definitely upped their design game recently and are producing some good looking cars. This Corsa is a smart looking small hatch. However, whilst this may be a more reasonably priced EV, I’m sure that most people looking at a small hatch car will look at the £10,000 premium for the EV (50% premium on the base model!! 😮) and say that it’s just not worth that extra cost. That £10,000 would pay for 70,000mls of fuel for the petrol version! So unless you are a committed fan of EVs, which I would suggest most people are not, then the EV just makes no sense even with a good finance deal 🤔

If you can recharge your diesel 700 miles in 5 minutes AND it comes with the added benefit of not burning your house down as you sleep, it’s Win-Win.🤨🤨🤨

Great balanced review and a total flip compared to the recent Ferrari reviews! Having seen (albeit the previous gen Corsa) at £10K for a 3 year old one, the depreciation on these is mammoth even for a Vauxhall

One of my favourite Supermini’s, the Vauxhall Astra has two Ultimate Badges on both of the front doors but the Corsa doesn’t, GS Line Is my favourite Trim 😊

Interesting review and comments, nothing about it being fantastic or great but ‘nice’. Nice drive, nice interior, just nice. Is that a different way of saying it’s just OK? I’ll be honest, the price is ridiculous and yes I know EV’s are always more expensive but really, £35k to £38k for a Corsa? I dont think so as there are many more alternatives out there that make far more sense.

As always Peter…a very fair and realistic review of a car that has a purpose…a reliable family runabout with a good amount of style and practicality. As others say, it will depreciate like a used sandwich but then will be a wonderful purchase. It isn’t exciting…but it was never meant to be ….that hat was worn by the Astra 2.0 GTE Red Top….and my (now) wife had one when they were new….maybe one of the best engines of all time!! We will see what that Astra Tourer is like…probably far better than it will ever be recognised for.🤔😬😃😃😃😃😃

Two of my most enjoyable cars were the Cavalier SRi and more recently the Vauxhall Astra GTC limited edition. Since Peugoet took over ownership and the design of both Astra and Corsa, they just don’t look Vauxhall anymore in my view. 😢

Agree with you the new Vauxhalls are more desirable and I’m very pleased about that. I had a couple of astras back in the day including a GTE and I loved them. I was always very envious of my uncle who had a lotus Carlton 😍 it was a shame that Vauxhall did a Peugeot on us and lost the plot. Love Thyme the food is fantastic 😀

Nice review. One thing you didn’t mention is competition. With Ford no longer offering the Fiesta in the UK I can see the Corsa being even more popular albeit in petrol drive. EV pricing still crazy

I had a Vauxhall Senator 3.0 CDi with the LCD dash for 18 months back in the mid-90s. Cost a fortune in fuel but an absolute beast of a car, I loved it!
As a current EV owner I definitely won’t be buying brand new for my next one but there are some great 12-24 months old bargains out there that I would have no qualms about. My current EV is 3.5 years old with no noticeable degradation of the battery.

The B mode seems similar to an exhaust brake on my lorry. Obviously not the same but slows you down slightly on hills. I had a brand new 1.2 black Corsa SXi in 2005 with tinted windows and rear lights back in the day. Loved it. I’m considering replacing my Focus for a used Corsa e Elite Nav for my commute and local driving. They’re going for around £13k at the moment. I will only be charging it at home so would work great and save me a ton of cash on fuel. Our other car is a diesel Meriva which we use when we have the kids or do long runs. Then for the weekend fun I’m considering a GT86.

Hi Ped it’s so nice to see you reviewing a car that I can afford great review from the limited time that you obviously had with the vehicle. I have actually ordered a Grandland because it offered the best value for money for me as it is a Motabilitycar all it cost me was £250 up front I’m looking forward to receiving my new car in December 👍🏻

Interesting to see this new EV Corsa. I currently drive a 22 plate Corsa Ultimate Auto. I went from a Mini Cooper S Sport (and previous to that an Abarth 595) to the Corsa (I am a Motability customer) and I was concerned that I would really miss the excitement of driving a proper hot hatch. Both my previous cars were fantastic and are the two best cars I have ever had. However I love my Corsa. It’s not as rapid, obviously, as the Mini or Abarth but the driving experience is just as enjoyable. My driving style has changed significantly as the Corsa is perfect for just cruising along. It is comfortable and easy to drive and my only grumble is the daft ‘gear selector’ which is little more than a slider which makes it a faff to get into reverse from park at times. It’s economical too and I am getting well north of 50 /55 mpg on long journeys. It is an excellent car for me as a single person. The new styling on the 2024 model enhances some of the already great looks (love the blacked out badges) and the interior display looks better too. Excellent review Pete, I would be interested to see what the petrol version is like as an EV would be very difficult for me as a disabled person to live with as I would not be able to home charge and the infrastructure is just not good enough currently. Look forward to seeing the Astra video as I have has a couple of those too over the years.

The design is very good. Like many cars it’s getting wider which affects parking. The range is reasonable now but it’s so expensive. We have a 2019 1.0 polo which is a 60HP engine and does 60 mpg. I think it’s a better car even though it’s the base model

Stellantis offer this drivetrain across much of their range, so if you prefer the look of a Peugeot, a Citroen or a small Jeep then you can take your pick. Soon, the Fiat 600e will be added to this.
Good road test and looking forward to hearing your views on the Astra Sport Tourer, which greatly impressed the editor of Diesel and ECO Car magazine in its PHEV form.

Good review again, nicely done.I think Vauxhalls are improving in looks these days. The new Astra looks pretty good. With the costings I still think that the ICE cars still make the best sense at the moment.
