Zeekr 7GT FIRST LOOK: The super-cool estate that wants to kill the SUV

SUVs have dominated the EV market for several years, however could a streamlined shooting brake like the Zeekr 7GT finally tempt motorists to downsize without giving up usefulness?
In this video, Nicki takes you on a complete walkaround of the Zeekr 7GT, a striking brand-new electrical shooting brake that blends sports-saloon style with estate-car versatility. With its low roofline, remarkable proportions and premium tech, the 7GT appears like a strong alternative to the sea of high-riding electrical SUVs– however does it provide sufficient area to make good sense as a family automobile?
We'll explore the design, interior design, boot space and smart details, and ask the huge questions: does the 7GT make too many compromises compared to standard SUVs? And if you're presently driving something like a Tesla Model Y, is this the sort of EV that could convince you to switch?
Is this the future of useful electric cars and trucks– or simply a stunning niche?

    Isn’t this a hatchback?

      More like a shooting brake

    HOW is that an estate… Being generous it’s a shooting brake. But really, it’s just a hatch-back.

      It’s not a full estate, it’s not a full hatch either, more of a shooting brake. And it looks very good.

      There are not clear definitions of shooting brakes but at close to 5 meter its not a hatch back in my book.

      Far from, as the description says , needing to “downsize without giving up practicality”. I’d need to upsize and give up practicality.

    Such a beautiful car. I’ve been waiting for this to arrive in Australia. I sat in one in Melbourne last year and Zeekr said we might see it in 2027.

      I think the phrase “beauty is in the eye of the holder” Is relevant here.

      Beauty? I mean it looks funky i guess but this is not a beautiful car at all. And if i would want a true funky designed car then id go for a hyundai or a kia anyway

      I was told by a ZEEKR Melbourne dealership that it’s arriving in Australia in 2026 & they’re taking orders for a $2K deposit

      The only funky about Hyundai and Kia is what’s happening with their engines

    Official site says a boot of 456 litres which seems quite different from the number mentioned in the video

    How do those push door handles work when iced over?

    1. @Astragoth2 Avatar
      @Astragoth2

      my xpeng has electric doors as well. It is minus 8 in the Netherlands right now. They work just fine. Remember, winters in Beijing in China can be considerably colder then what we are used to.

      @fideba1

      @GlitterGuruon the 7x they are. Heaps of snow and ice here the last week, 5 min preheating is sufficient to open the doors at the touch of a button

    I’ve been driving a Chinese Polestar for 4 years without any faults, my wife a Chinese made BMW IX3, again without fault. I’d choose Chinese over anything from the likes of Vauxhall etc.

    I don’t understand or agree with the premise at the beginning. The estate body style is, was, and always has been the most practical car form.

    1. @jamesengland7461 Avatar
      @jamesengland7461

      It is true, but the estate hasn’t been as popular as it should’ve been for a while now, and that is partly due to people looking down on it, hence the mental exercise she voiced.

    2. @richgl31 Avatar
      @richgl31

      @jamesengland7461 I prefer the estates, but they do tend to be longer vehicles; which in buoy-up urban environments can be challenging.

      The most practical form would be a minivan, but those completly disapeared.

    I actaully saw one the day before the European reveal. I was out clearing my car from the insane amounts of snow and suddenly there it was driving by me. It was mildly camouflaged, but I instantly recognized it, as iI have been working at Zeekr Design HQ here in Gothenburg as a 3D-artist and have made over 100 3D-renderings of the saloon version. I can tell you it looks awesome in person!

    Love that we got more electric estates to our streets not being another SUV. This Zeekr 7GT definitely looks interesting, don’t really know if I like the design or not, being from big Geely group would actually love to see this being Volvo – maybe EV60 (to replace now sadly gone V60 estate – for me design vise still estate car perfection 😍🤟).
    And actually excited for the new fastback from XPeng the P7+.

    How long to wait till we get to basic info such as the length and width, as it doesn’t seem to be designed for small parking spaces, underground city parkings or narrow streets?
