    Great double act. I’ve always liked these two and together they can make this channel very large.

    We have had an ID3 for nearly 4 years now and will probably keep it another 4, it’s brilliant and does everything (apart from carry a roof box, grr vw). Even the software and touchscreen is fine now after being updated (just as good as any mainstream alternative from 2021-22 except for Tesla). The ID3 is a really good mid size family hatch and the version with the new infotainment and charging performance would be great.

      If only VW pull its thumbs out of its tailpipe and quickly offer the much more affordable LFP ID3 that the Chinese market enjoys

      @stevewhitmill2037 just saw the other day an offer for the ID.3 Pro 59 kwh 2025 with 26.500 euros… I think it’s a fair price for what you get.

    I’ve had an R5 for about 4 months, the stalks do look a bit of a mess at first and I did occassionally hit the wipers when I wanted the drive selector, but I quickly got used to it and now it feels quite intuitive, just like getting used to new controls on any new car really. The lack of a P button on the stalk did seem like an odd omission at first but I find I rarely need it, as turning the car off or unoing the driver’s seatbelt automatically engages the parking brake anyway.

    1. @jousis_ Avatar
      @jousis_

      Wait, so if you put it in N & undo the seatbelt it automatically engages?

      In my 208 it makes an extremely annoying sound if I don’t engage the pointless P.

    2. @Franallen1 Avatar
      @Franallen1

      @jousis_you don’t need to put it in N, just switch off the motor. No need for a park button at all. In traffic if needed, there is an auto hold button.

    3. @jousis_ Avatar
      @jousis_

      @Franallen1sometimes i want to stop for a bit to take out something from the trunk for ex.
      i engage the handbrake and if don’t do the stupid P thing it makes loud noises 😅

      I’ve got mine since december and I find t’he solution for the parking button of Renault it’s very comfortable. You don’t need to think about it. It automatically does what you need in every moment. The Autohold button it’s very useful too.

    Had the misfortune to experience the sliders/haptic buttons in the Cupra version on a night time, thanks to an insurance loan recently. He’s right they’re not poor, they’re absolutely dire & dangerous.

    1. @daveparry2225 Avatar
      @daveparry2225

      I have an ID3 and have no need to touch the haptic buttons on the main screen hardly at all if ever. Volume is on the steering wheel and who needs to keep adjusting temperature??? Can’t see why you complain so.

    2. @shroomyesc Avatar
      @shroomyesc

      @daveparry2225 Idk I always change the temperature cause the weather changes and thusly so does my clothing. I don’t wanna undress or put on layers to fit the car’s temperature.

    I’ve had my R4 iconic (same colour as well) for 10 days now – it is fantastic – had lots of thumbs up and nice comments from passers by – I’m new to electric as well – still can’t get over the fact that I can just plug it in at home !
    Of course being on the “budget” end of the market there are a few compromises – the reversing camera is poor and I would have preferred the charge port at the rear but the positives far outweigh the negatives
    It also looks like a car not a training shoe, and doesn’t have one of those nasty huge grilles on the front like many modern cars
    I can highly recommend giving one a spin

    Just got a id.3 a month ago for my wife, we have been both loving it. Super easy to drive, controls are easy to use. Super happy. It’s great now that we are starting to get spoilt for choice with the range of EV’s available.

    The ID3 is now almost like what it always should have been. The e-Golf.
    Coming next the ID2 e-Polo.
    Finally VW has some common sense.

    The ID.3, with its 2024 facelift, is completely underrated. Volkswagen has addressed all the criticism and improved the car accordingly. It’s now a very solid electric car with good software, one that’s a pleasure to drive comfortably on country roads and highways. I drive an ID.3 Pro S from September 2025 and I am very happy with it.

    A while ago, I often heard that our common favourite, the Kia EV 3, is also a direct competitor to the VW ID 3. And by the external dimensions, that’s even true.
    Maybe compare these two guys as well?

  17. @snaenaeyerbusiness Avatar
    @snaenaeyerbusiness

    I’ve got an id.3 and wouldn’t change it for a Renault 4 given the poor space in the back seats and slower charging. The Renault 4 may have more character, and that may be important to people, but I’d rather my kids had enough room in the back!

    That being said, beware some models of the id.3 still don’t come with travel assist or keyless entry, both of which I miss

  18. @shieldaigbencher Avatar
    @shieldaigbencher

    ID.3 is a brilliant car. We have two!

  19. @Mi82475 Avatar
    @Mi82475

    The ID3 is nice and substantial feeling. I do prefer a C segment small hatch to a B segment crossover, but the interior is not good enough and some specs are just infuriatingly expensive.
    I bet the next Polo and Golf electric, with more phisical buttons and better tec will be nice, but in the meantime i would take a Renault Megane with the same google setup but better space and more battery
