NEW KIA EV3 DRIVEN : Volvo EX30’s worst nightmare | Electrifying

#kiaev 3 #kiaelectric #electriccars

The Kia EV3 is an all-electric 'B-segment SUV', which is market promote 'a small-ish, SUV-ish hatchback.' At 4.3-metres long, it's a touch smaller sized than the Kia Niro EV, larger than the Jeep Avenger and a very comparable size to the VW ID.3 and Volvo EX30. This is an important automobile for Kia due to the fact that compact SUVs like this comprise nearly a third of all new automobiles offered in Europe and from our very first look we think the EV3 is great all rounder that might well become the cars and truck to beat in its class.

    While the European manufacturers are sucking their thumbs while wondering what to do about the future, the Koreans & Chinese have embraced the future and are charging ahead.

    The next 10 years on our roads are going to look very different

    I think the bigger battery version will be the big seller. Going to be a hugely popular car both new and second hand. Looks great and is about the right size for a family car. This and the Hyundai Inster are going to be massive sellers in Europe and the UK

    At last!..A real road test of the much hailed EV3 and Seoul looks a fun place to be. Having driven a Kia e-Niro since early 2019 I am interested to know how the EV3 rides and handles which you didn’t say anything about in this video. They are expected to arrive here in France within a few months so looking forward to seeing more reviews of this car.

    Pretty tempted to consider this after my salary sacrifice lease on the current gen Hyundai Kona is completed. Love the Kona Advanced ultimate as a family car, so hoping the top spec EV3 can accept a tow bar for a cycle carrier

      Not to me it doesn’t. That’s truly subjective. What I do like is that it is roomier than the Volvo. Otherwise, I like the esthetics of the Volvo over the Kia.

    I am real convert to these new Kia EVs ….. despite the fact my EV9 being in the garage again for its second 12v battery failure …. I have been a Audi, BMW & Volvo driver traditionally but Kia have nailed the design and build quality on these and EV Tech (despite 12v problem) is efficient and easy to use. This looks like a great second EV option for our family 🙂especially compared to the Volvo price point.

    1. @denism66 Avatar
      @denism66

      The 12v issue has been around pretty much since Kia/Hyundai started building EVs, it’s a shame they can’t seem to figure this thing out.
      Tesla used to have this issue but they switched to Li-ion batteries years ago.

    Pity that the GT line doesn’t come with the more efficient and arguably better looking 17” wheels for our potholed roads. Low profile 19” wheels are fine on motorways but on most UK roads they not that great at absorbing the bumps or returning good miles per kWh.
    Other countries get the option why not the UK !
    Lovely looking car, ticks so many boxes. Ordered mine last week , but annoyed at need to purchase the heat pump, which should be standard on all EVs !

      Oddly it’s really close to looking like a Renault Mégane. Same round styling, pop out handles, concealed rear handles in the c pillar, charging speeds and front wheel drive. The Kia is nice but I personally prefer the Renault, with current offers you can get a top trim iconic megane with heat pump and harmon kardon sound system for the same as an entry level EV3. Close call, so would recommend driving both before making a decision.

    The slide out tray is pointless, it needs to be a storage space with the tray on top if you need a tray. Otherwise the car looks great. I bet there will be a waiting list.

      @michalklucz6907

      I saw how you can fold passenger seat in Hyundai Inster/Casper and stretch out your legs while sitting in the back. Since then any kind of trays is just a gimmick I don’t want to work with my torso rotated 60deg. I want to have my laptop on my… lap.

  16. @iridemountainbikes Avatar
    @iridemountainbikes

    I don’t understand the obsession with 0-60 times, I find this one of the least important things to me when looking at newer cars. My current super old 2010 kia ceed (much in need of replacing but can’t afford it) does 0-60 in about 11.6 seconds and I’ve rarely wished for it to be better so anything less than that in my mind is plenty enough as long as you’re driving sensibly. Family cars really don’t need to be able to do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds, that’s just bonkers to me. Faster charging would be nice on all these cars, would prefer 150kw minimum charging speed on all cars to keep charges under half an hour, on longer journeys this would also free up chargers quicker at busy times.

    1. @user-lr4ey7kl4j Avatar
      @user-lr4ey7kl4j

      I agree with you 100%. This obsession with 0-whatever times is utterly pointless for 98.9% of drivers. I find it absolutely annoying when reviewers point it out for anything other than a super car thing.

      @Abercon25

      Mostly agree…

      I do live in an area that has a million roundabouts, and the speed and responsiveness from a standstill does come in handy to move away during peak hours or to get out of trouble when others are driving unsafely.

      But your are right on the whole.

      Old Leaf with 0-62 11.something. Never really cared as it’s 0-30 is pretty fruity. That is the useful place for rapid acceleration for turning on to a 60mph road. Nobody needs a faster 0-62mph than 6secs, even that is more likely to help drivers do something stupid.

    4. @gap9992 Avatar
      @gap9992

      I agree with you but where I live having the instant acceleration is handy to overtake cycles and other slow moving traffic. Anything less than 8 seconds is not needed.

    As an EV6 owner, Kia knock it out of the park AGAIN.

    Just a couple of things that the EV3 could’ve done with though:
    * The faster charging speeds that the EV6 and EV9 have (although this might’ve bumped the price up too much?)
    * A panoramic glass roof rather than the sunroof (no idea why Kia keeps fitting sunroofs when the pano roof is what everyone wants)
    * Battery pre-conditioning to operate off Google Maps, Waze, Apple Maps, rather than just off the inbuilt nav
