More tricks than Sooty? Genesis GV60 Long Term Report | Electrifying

# #electriccars #gv 60.

If you have actually never heard of (no, not the band), nobody would blame you. The brand just introduced in the European market in 2021, so they're still an unusual sighting. We still get quite excited when we spot one.

Genesis is the sassy, elegant cousin to Hyundai. The one that shows up to family parties in sparkly earrings with a bottle of pricey fizz. The GV60 features 3 spec options – Premium, Sport and Sport plus. The one we've been running for the past three months (in the capable hands of Nicola Hume, AKA Mystic Nic) is the Premium edition. Although this is technically the entry level design, there is absolutely nothing standard about it whatsoever.

With trick functions like a crystal ball gear selector, heated AND oxygenated seats and the wise ventilation, the GV60 isn't short on fancy functions.

How did it fare throughout our three-month loan? Have a look at Nicola's end of term review to find out. Have you got a Genesis GV60? Do you concur or disagree with Nicola's findings? Let us know in the comments below.

The Genesis GV60 has a fault which means that, depending upon the angle the car is parked when it rains, water gets into the cabin air filter. This prevents air getting into the cabin and means the windscreen can’t demist. For us this made for a dangerous journey at night time in the rain on a motorway. We rejected our first car because of this. Two intermediate loan cars had the problem and our new car (later model year) also has the problem.

We were the first owners to identify this and now others are seeing the problem.

Genesis UK have acknowledged the problem and say the factory is working on a fix. They have not given a date for the fix and not said if they will proactively retrofit it to all existing cars.

    This demonstrates the problem.

Going to add here and yes you do know who I am from the same forums. Yes some people suffer from this and you were unlucky but most of us how found we do not suffer from the same problem.
At least Genesis UK were able to replicate it and hopefully Genesis Korea will get it sorted so yours will be fixed and others will stop getting the same issue.

Oh my God, those eyes at the beginning. Nicola is still the funniest and best car reviewer out there. If she was on Top Gear I think it would still be going. Never change. πŸ˜‚

A wireless CarPlay adapter is the solution for all that annoying plugging and unplugging. They’re now pretty affordable. We got one for our e2008 from Amazon that cost about Β£40 and it works flawlessly.

I bought the performance over a year ago. Still haven’t seen a car i would prefer to own. Huge comfort, huge tech and huge speed. Worth any penny. Love the slash design joke.

Yes – Nichola is without doubt one of the very best car reviewers of recent times, what a find Ginny. The humour, the style, the narratives are all natural and of superlative quality – well done. Nichola is alluring pretty too, keeps me watching every minute.

Great review – thank you – love your humour.

It’s not the HOLD button it’s the START button with the instruction to hold. There are two other buttons with hold instructions on the key fob – boot opening and charge port opening.

I have afully specced Genesis Electrified G80 since July ’22 and whilst a completely different model albeit from the same brand and I have found exactly the same consumption in summer and winter driving. Having owned Jaguar’s for some twenty years and a Maserati for seven years I have to say the Genesis is the best car I’ve owned.
Finally to get around the Apple Carplay issue I use a wireless adaptor which automatically connects to my phone via Bluetooth.

Loved it Nic! I saw one in Sydney AU recently at the Everything Electric show(formerly Fully Charged Live) and OMG, the interior was the light colour mind you which I prefer and man did it look good. Sad you can’t keep it but then you need to review more cars so maybe your next one will be a Lotus Eletre or the Ioniq 5 N. πŸ™‚

I was at “yeah it’s OK” but then buttons and knobs. Things to actually press and twiddle! Still not going to be paying Β£60k for a car but i do like a good press and twiddle.

Nicola you’re a scream πŸ˜‚, that intro had me in stitches. As always an interesting and fun review. I do believe you were enjoying the butt manipulator 🀣 built into the seat base. May you never lose that sense of wicked humour.
