    The space is impressive and I really like the interior! The exterior is nice but not overly interesting; I’d probably go for the Kia instead…

    That’s a Smart #1. Looks really similar, only slightly cheaper. I guess it comes from the sama factory…

      The smart is a collab between Mercedes and Geely so it’s not too surprising but yeah – that is a lot like the smart #1 inside and out

      Yes, more than a passing resemblance to the Smart #1.

      Allowing China to steal has cost Europe’s economy dearly. One of the big reasons the UK car industry got wiped off the map is China.

      I went to look at the smart #1 and it feels amazing heated seats all leather seats metal vents and really good materials ambient lighting and moonroof and 400+km of range and more for about 26,950 Ireland 2025 used though

    I live in South Africa, and we recently got this car on our market. Test driven by my dad and myself. Strangely it’s known as the Geely E2 over here. I’m really blown away by this car, even though it’s less affordable here than in Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand, even in Australia for Pete’s sake. This is a car I could easily live with. A Polo sized car with Golf space inside.

      am in SA as well, took it for a test. we have 2 spec levels with the difference relating to ADAS and some creature comforts. the driving kit is the same 40KW battery 85kw (about 114hp) with about 325km or range. this is rear wheel drive and the fatter tyres make it super comfortable. top speed is 130km/h (which i did test). there is most def brake regen that is set in the screen, with steering profiles for how light or hard it is. in terms of charging, we get 70kw dc charge (30% to 80% 25mins) or 7kw ac (6.5 hours for 10-100%), it has V2L as well. for the price point and features it is really good value for money. I suspect this or some better spec (battery / motor possibly) would be coming into the UK

      It’s not in Australia yet. Plenty speculation, no price. BYD “Seagull” starts at $24k plus in roads for the small battery version, which people have been passing over for the bigger battery, so $30k plus drive away.

    The tiny wheels make the car look a bit bigger proportionally than it needs to compared to the actual size but of course smaller wheels tend to keep cost down don’t they.

    This car is being sold here in Brasil for about 4 months already, and it costs around €21.200…, and it has good reviews from its owners here in YT.

      So are these Chinese EV makers still using Brazilians as slaves?
      -“In late 2024, Brazilian labor authorities uncovered severe labor exploitation and “Slave-like” conditions at a construction site of Chinese vehicle maker BYD”

    I suspect that the soft shapes and bright colours might have some bias towards a female audience but this middle aged dad loves it too. The nerdy side of me also loves the fact that the proportions reportedly follow the golden ratio. My long limbs definitely also approve of the space. If they bring it to Denmark and price it similarly to other markets they can hands down take my money. So far most of the Chinese car companies have failed here probably thinking that since we’re a relatively rich country we only want their luxury cars and that we will buy them at silly prices (similar to the German premium brands with a long history). Think again. Most of us just want practicality at a bargain price just like in most other places.

    It would put a bomb under the EV market if it could be sold for 15 or 16 k for the base model like the Dacia Spring . They would make a killing

    1. @markbennett6658 Avatar
      @markbennett6658

      It would need a 50kWh battery, 100kW DC charging and regenerative braking at certainly no more than 18K to get a lot of traction. They should keep the colours and the light interior as a differentiator because the styling is quite anodyne and generic.

    Regenerative braking and DC charging essential in UK.

    1. @neillgatley8770 Avatar
      @neillgatley8770

      Regen, DC charging, heated seats and decent tyres are needed. The GWM 03 /funky cat / good cat failed because the indicators didn’t cancel and the initial battery was too small for the money. For a Chinese EV, the specs need to match an MG 4 to look like a serious option.

  13. @tomooo2637 Avatar
    @tomooo2637

    Charging speed is related to battery size as the more packs in the battery are in parallel (where each pack is 400v and around 100 cells). So hopefully one more pack will add about 50miles and up to 100kW charge speed and a little more power.

  14. @MrAndreCoutinho Avatar
    @MrAndreCoutinho

    We got this in Brazil as well, the package is very decent and the price is aggressive to beat BYD. It’s one of the best combos when it comes to equipment and real estate to accommodate a real family. The positive side against the other Chinese brands is that Geely – the brand call themselves Geely but the the G has the sound of a J, like as we pronounce in “Ginny” – has a local partnership with Renault and that promises a broader availability of parts, and soon it will be manufactured here.

    I think the price will need to start with a 1 in the UK, it’s not on a desirability par with ID polo and others.

    Looks like the Dongfeng Nammi Box we have in the Netherlands since 2024.
    Same size, 42kWh battery size, same price range and same features, like seat memory, seat cooling and heating, 360 camera’s, ADAS level 2, all over the interior soft “leather-like” material and a lot of space inside.
    Fast DC charging standard. In 2026 still €24.500.
