    R.I.P. Volkswagen….!! Kia has managed to build cars that people want to buy. Plus, they don’t build a concept car and then do sweet-f-a…. for years! They get on and build the real production cars!

      Sure. Kia/Hyundai can’t even patch the security problem that exists and results to many stolen ev6/ioniq5 or fix their iccu issue(hell, even the new ev3 has iccu problems), but yes, rip VW.

      KIAs EVs are overall worse than the one from Volkswagen. ID.2X and Skoda Epiq will be more compelling products than the KIA EV2. The Skoda Elroq also beats the KIA EV3 overall

    Please don’t say that EV batteries use rare earths. THEY DON’T!! Cobalt, manganese and nickel are not rare earths. The rare earths are used in items such as permanent magnets (found in electric motors) or touch screens.

    This is ridiculous getting all the journalists to show them car they cannot touch… I thought that streaming video was enough for that 😀 They should work on lowering the resulting price instead so more people can afford them. Like Kia though.

    Would love if they made 4wd version, don’t need powerful motors just enough to be like EV version of original Fiat Panda 4×4 or Suzuki Jimny.

    LFP is made to sound like the cheap compromise option. While it may have lower energy density and slower charging it’s also longer lasting and needs less care when charging

    1. @masterofthepinkside Avatar
      @masterofthepinkside

      well, sort of. Turns out they last best when kept at low SOC, but the car cant easily read off the capacity so you need to top it off every now and then to make sure the car knows when to reset the GOM. But otherwise yes.

    2. @Ripsticker45 Avatar
      @Ripsticker45

      You can also top off an LFP battery to 100% every day so in some ways it could be considered to have the same range as Lithium Ion.

    3. @masterofthepinkside Avatar
      @masterofthepinkside

      @@Ripsticker45 you can, but newer testing that’s closer to real world suggests if you do that you also lose most of the lovely extra cycles. I mean don’t get me wrong, either battery type is great, and lfp being cheaper is plenty of benefit IMO

    4. @concinnus Avatar
      @concinnus

      Slower charging is a design choice for lower cost, it’s not inherent. Chinese EVs have gotten LFP charging down to <10min for 10-80%.

    You missed out the best bit about LFP batteries – you can constantly charge them up to100% with little degradation and they have far more recharge cycles.

    For the majority of users it’s often better getting the LFP than the bigger battery that usually is a more traditional make up as it’s 100% charge is pretty similar to the bigger batteries 80%,you just miss out on the few times a year you might need the additional range when you fully charge the larger one.

  13. @morepower1989 Avatar
    @morepower1989

    All that matters is the final price of a mid spec. EVs are fairly expensive, even EV3 is, when we add things that most of us are used to and a very much needed heatpump for example. EV3 is already small according to today’s standards – 4.3 m of length makes it a fairly small car, easy to fit in most places, maybe except neapolitan streets (they’re not buying EVs anyway).

    As a disabled person paralyzed from the chest down, this would be the perfect vehicle for me as is. That little slide out seat with the suicide doors would make transferring into the vehicle so easy. Thanks for the “review” of this KIA EV2. When it is around €25.000 it should be okay.
    A bit sadly, it is a concept and (for us) about 2 years to late on the market.
    We just bought the Dongfeng BOX for €23.400, with a 42kWh LFP battery.
    360 degrees cameras, level 2 ADAS, and lots of inside space, comfort and luxury.
    And most important of all, we have been riding it 5.500km all winter since November 2024 and easy 200mls real world range.
    The BOX uses around 7.8km per kWh on average.
    Next May we take it on a 2.000km round trip from Netherlands to Austria.

    £25k and probably £500 per month on pcp. KIA really needs to get their finger out & offer more accessible finance deals. cars just over £30k are like £600 per month. whats the point of producing cheaper cars if they don’t make sense financially??!!
