FIRST DRIVE: MG4 XPOWER – our verdict on the most powerful MG EVER! | Electrifying

#mg 4xpower #mg 4 #xpower

How does supercar efficiency in a practical hatchback shape for less than the expense of a standard VW ID3 noise? Great? Because that's what this MG4 provides. It's called the MG4 XPower – and it's the most powerful MG … ever made.

The MG4 XPower has 429bhp from a set of motors, 201bhp in the front and 228bhp in the back. So it's also got all-wheel drive. That implies it's got the grip to obtain from rest to 62mph in less than four seconds – 3.8 if we're being picky – and on to a restricted leading speed of 124mph. Which's generally as fast as a Porsche 911 Carrera S.

This is what we 'd call a bit of a sleeper – a car that does not look quickly, however really is.
In fact, unless you understood that the orange calipers for the big brakes behind those unique 18-inch wheels were special to the XPower, you might think it was the Trophy variation. No enormous bodykit, no big broad arches.

It is a bit lower and a tiny bit wider, but not so's you 'd observe. But it's got a comparable face, the same double rear spoiler, the exact same basic look. You 'd never truly understand that it has TWICE the power of the regular one.

However what's it like to drive? Join Nicola as she takes MG's supercar-beating hatch on the road for the very first time. Is this the perfect electrical performance car? Will you be ordering? As always, we love to hear what you believe, so please leave your remarks below.

Oh man I totally agree, would rather have this than any Tesla, 36 grand an you have a practical family hatchback with supercar acceleration, looks nice too, I seen a review with a green one an it looks amazing in green, defo want get one of these someday for first electric car in the future, great job from mg, just don’t understand why they put plastic covers on brake calipers tho, would be easier to just paint the callipers orange with x power stamped on them , still it’s an amazing car for the money, I’d buy one now if I had 36 grand handy

All that performance, and MG have addressed the most often complained about item of no rear wiper.
So those that find the lack of a rear wiper a deal breaker, will now be happy.

Depends, my old 07 civic never had one and tbh did not even needed either, never in 4 years had sight issues

It has absolutely been addressed? The new 2023 MG4 does feature a rear wiper: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/2QV-YzlIKxA
Only the MG4 purchase before June 2023 do not have a rear wiper. Anyone purchasing an MG4 right now will have one.

Looks like they’ve added a rear centre headrest as well which was missing on the earlier models but it does look like that interior is still very dark with no rear passenger lighting & no pano roof. Also, did they ad the “oh shi*t” Grab Handles for the passengers to hang onto – also missing on the earlier models. Other than that it’s a good bang for your buck option if you are into 0-60 bragging rights. This would have been so much better as an Estate car though & then I might have been interested.

Same price as a Hyundai i30N and I think I would rather have this as itโ€™s a sleeper and no one would have a clue especially in the other colours as the option is the green for the XPower and my work has free electric charger for us so win win

What you should do is right foot on the brake, then switch to the accelerator because let’s face it, that’s how 99.9999999% of people launch from the traffic lights ๐Ÿšฅ
