The big grill on a SUV does not look so bad, but on the 7 Series saloon it looks dreadfully out of place, make the car look like a right minger, Looks are of course subjective, so YMMV 🙂

I feel like I’m growing old waiting for all these motors to slowly move seats about
    Prefer a handle n a spring

Last face looked way btr. Just like the 7 series. And that’s despite me being fine with the grill honestly

The reason the X7 is popular in the US is because 3 row midsize SUVs are popular not because Americans love beaver tooth front ends. It sells despite the grille not because of it.

In Europe this would definitely not be considered “mid size”. Then again we don’t have that many Escalades.

I wouldn’t like to be sat in the back row of seats purely from a safety point of view

I’d rather buyCitroen berlingo xl and pocket the 50k difference.

this doesn’t look anywhere near as good as any Range Rover

Compared to the hideous grille on the new GLS (looks like a transplant from a Toyota Hilux), the X7’s looks positively restrained.

You can easily buy two great premium SUVs for the price of one of these. The X7 is for a hyperultranarrow niche.

@@neelsn007 In my country X1 starts at €38500, X3 at €52500 and X7 at €98400. Even at base X1 + X3 << X7. If you option each well you still end up below a similar X7 and the comfort of 7 people across X1 + X3 >>>>> than the same people in one X7.

But it’s just not better than a Range Rover. The Range River wins hands down on style and “cred” so no matter if the rather vulgar X7 is technically superior. It loses every time it counts, how it makes you feel, and how it makes the people admiring the Range Rover in a country pub carpark whilst they completely miss the X7

You have to wonder at anyone paying extra for piano black, rather than paying extra to have it removed and burned

No doubt the X7 is a competent car in almost ever area but the looks are a deal breaker for me. I don’t choose cars based solely on whether they are the best, but more on a mix of criteria of which most importantly is, how I feel about the car and its looks. That’s something I can’t get past with the X7 – it just looks monstrous to my eyes. I would happily trade a little ability for the comparative elegance and restraint of the Range Rover, which is still by any measure a very good car but also, to my eyes at least, one that also looks nice. Great review btw 😁.

Totally agree with this!! It looks awful in real life!! The exterior proportions are complete miss match from all angles!! Range Rover all the way for me!!

I have a newish X3 and saw one of these in the showroom when I got my car. They are gargantuan and there’s me saying it took me a week getting used to the bulk of my X3. My X3 was the Msport model just before they went to these diamond cut alloys which I utterly hate – hard to keep clean, easy to damage and expensive to fix…

When I think of Range Rover. I think it’s like buying a Television that can do everything and anything better than a Samung or LG product. But then after a month one by one you have issues with feature after feature not working. I’d pay for quality over sleek and pretty any day of the week. Especially when shopping anything over 100k.

Do I like the RR styling better yep. But just last month I picked up my neighbor less than two miles from our home because his 2021 RR was stopped in the middle of a three lane road. Just randomly shut off smh.

Is that why most BMW drivers tear about the place at 120mph – because it makes the car more comfortable?

I love the X7. My 2019 M sport is amazing. Not liking the front end at all or the interior screen.

Where’s the link to the off-road test? Has it been uploaded yet?

I’d suggest that when you test these you should include country lanes like you find in the Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes. This will give an even more balanced review particularly on all-round practicality.
Tax should be based on size and weight of vehicle as well as emissions.
