1000 km on One Charge in under 10 Hours: Renault’s Wildest EV Experiment

What does real electric efficiency truly appear like? In this video, Nicola Hume supports the wheel of one of the most extraordinary electrical cars Renault has ever built: the Filante Record 2025. This futuristic demo vehicle has actually just reworded the rulebook by covering more than 620 on a single charge, utilizing an 87 kWh battery the very same size as the one discovered in the Renault Beautiful E-Tech electric– and doing it at practical freeway speeds of 70mph.
The Filante Record 2025 isn't a principle created to look good on a motor show stand. It's a rolling laboratory, weighing simply 1,000 kg and packed with advanced technology, consisting of steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire systems, ultra-light products, 3D-printed elements and bespoke low-rolling-resistance Michelin tires. Wind tunnel development played an important role too, with substantial aerodynamic revisions helping to slash drag and increase effectiveness.
Inspired by Renault's historical record breakers and air travel design, this stunning maker shows simply how far electrical automobile performance can be pressed today– and what might quickly filter down into future road vehicles. Nicola takes you through what it's like to drive this amazing maker and explains why this record actually matters for daily EVs.

1:40 “I can’t see the bonnet” was exactly what my mother said when she had to drive my fathers E-type!

So neither Renault nor your “Battycrazy chick” ever heard of Aptera? https://www.youtube.com/@ApteraMotors

Hopefully this serves as inspiration that some of us want efficient longer distances EVs and not tanks with massive batteries.

I am relieved they had stops for comfort breaks as I was worried about driver endurance and bladders. Great video and fun now the ho ho ho is getting stale.

There are bags for that. Sailplane pilots, astronauts use them. Might be tough on a track for sure and maybe unsafe.

They needn’t have bothered and just looked at Mercedes’s EQXX results, where they added the second gear to the CLA to maximise highway efficiency. Also interesting that the time wasn’t a little faster. Björn Nyland regularly tests new EVs over a thousand Kilometres and the best of them finish those Norwegian and Swedish routes in <= 9 hours with 3 or 4 charging stops (Tesla model S, Mercedes CLA, NIO ET9 & ES8, Zeekr 7X etc)
