One of the reasons I enjoy watching you is getting to know you. You’re good people in my eyes. Never easy losing a beloved pet. My heart goes out to you and your wife. Please take care.

Very sorry for your loss. We lost our Yorkshire terrier 40 years ago and remember how painful it was to this day.

All my dogs have been rescues of varying ages. I have lost eight dogs over the years, all through age.
You feel each one, and it never gets any easier.
    All the best.

@PetrolPed: We lost our toy poodle last July, just shy of his 15th birthday. Still miss him every day. We had also acquired a second toy poodle, 18 months before our senior dog passed, so have experienced all of the emotions you shared, and everything you had to say about your loss resonated. Darcy has been immortalised in your videos, so you’ll always be able to look back on fond memories. I’m a recent newcomer to your channel, but I’m now a subscriber! Wishing you all the best.

Condolences. I have had many dogs (and cats) in my life, and without a shadow of doubt, the hardest thing ever is saying goodbye. Call me a coward, but since our last couple of dogs passed in 2021 and 2022, I could not go through the pain again – and the pain keeps with you for life (albeit the pain is less raw with time) – and on a regular basis, I find myself thinking back to all of my pets – some as far back as the 1970’s!

So sorry for your loss Pete, as dog owners ourselves understand how heart breaking it is when you lose them.

You’re spot on with the idea of having people to talk with when our pets cross the Rainbow Bridge.
When my dog had to leave us, the pain was…most unwelcome. I faced it alone, in essence, since my Mum was also suffering from severe dementia at the time. My Mum responded to the news that our beloved Buddy had to be put down with, “Dog? We have a dog? Where?” Mum, Dad and I had that pup for 15 wonderful years, though, and each of us loved that dog…
I wish you and Traci many, many more years with your li’l Hallie! Rest in love, Darcey; we all miss you terribly. Heaven bless you all. Aloha!

My heart goes out to you. We had a similar situation 12 months ago with one of our Cocker Spaniels. Whilst my head tells me that it was the kindest thing to do for him to not suffer, my heart still aches for him and I am tearing up even writing this. Love to you and your wife

So sorry for your loss, we lost our cat Monty the same day as you lost Darcy. It’s not easy but you have to remember the happy times and all the good memories.

The worst decision any pet lover has to make.
My heart goes out to you and Tracey.
It’s the kind of thing that needs to be shared to spread the pain and hopefully let you see that Darcy was loved whether we had met her or not.
    RIP little girl. ❤

Just watched your tribute to Darcy video Pete. Powerful stuff. First off let me say well done on deciding to name your 911 after Darcy 👍. I also wanted to say that there were probably loads of wet eyes amongst your viewers who’ve gone through the heartache of losing a loved pet, I know my eyes were rather wet. My weakness is Rottweilers, and I lost my beautiful girl Maggie two years ago to cancer, she was 13 years old. I vowed that I would never have another dog, but then 3 months later, while on Easter vacation, I was made aware of an 18 month old Rottweiler girl, Roxy, who was on her seventh home, and had a date to be euthanised on the following Tuesday, because she was (and still is) very reactive and the previous keepers could not handle her. I now have my hands full with a larger than life Rottweiler, who absolutely loves life, and begrudgingly keeps me active, but then I wouldn’t have it any other way. I guess where I’m going with this is should you decide you want another dog to keep Hallie company, why not consider adopting a rescue dog? I am so thankful that I got to hear about Roxy, and was able to act in time to save her, she really is so special, as was Maggie before her.

I feel your pain my friend, I have been there with my dog, but, please take solace in the fact that you gave Darcie the best possible life any Dog could wish for, and that the love was mutual.

In tears watching this, we lost our schnauzer Amber a year ago, we had virtually the same symptoms never made such a hard decision, but we know it was the right thing to do for her.

If it is any consolation, dogs are with us for only a part of our lives but we are with them for all of theirs.
We’ve lost several dogs over the years and it never gets any easier. A friend sent me this when our last dog was put to sleep –

“If it should be that I grow frail and weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this, the last battle, can’t be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don’t let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn’t want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they’ll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree,
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don’t grieve that it must be you,
    Who has to decide this thing to do;
We’ve been so close, we two, these years,
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.”
