Buying used seems to make financial sense, are the differences worth the extra expenditure and also what about depreciation?

Both have more than enough power, so its always most sensible to go for a used one

I think both new and used are great but honestly, if it was me, I’d have got a fully loaded petrol A6 Avant a year or so old and put the 15-20k I saved on that towards the 911 GTS cab you’re getting.

The biggest cost of any car regardless of make is depreciation. Anyone who buys new nowadays is either very rich or mad. The sweet spot is always when a car is about 2 1/2 years old when it is worth 55-60% but still haves some of the manufacturers warranty if a decent car.

Bought my wife a 2015 Macan S V6 petrol 5 years ago, has been excellent, still feels modern and as it’s an early model sounds fantastic! She’s refused to upgrade, another bonus I paid £29k back then with 44k miles and it’s had only modest depreciation since. Ride is excellent on 20 inch Michelin Pilot Sport, on second set and still very happy with their performance on mixed surface/ climate here in Wales.

Over a wide variety of cars, over many years, I decided that buying New, (for a well haggled price) and running the car into the ground works for me. Also I only buy if I can afford to pay cash, even if I make use of a ‘discounted, 0% deal.
I seem to remember a story from the late 1950s about the then new Design manager of General Motors having a ‘briefing’ with his design staff and accusing them of being asleep and not making an effort. The result was the continuous and unnecessary ‘updates’ to car models, higher fins, different colour schemes, different switches, and so on. All designed to make this years car ‘old style’ and get the owner to ‘Trade up’ . Nothing much has changed on that score.

I’m on my third Macan a 22 GTS. Best car I have ever owned. Thinks it’s a sports car then a daily driver. Complete package.

If you can get a v3 used 2.9 macan S with warranty, that would be the best buy. It has the same spec as your v2 gts but without the shouty gts emblems, and more than enough performance. New is only for those who want their bespoke spec as it’s harder to get exactly what you want used. Now take a CLOSE look at ALL of the steering wheel buttons on the left spoke and you will see a very small ‘m +/-‘ symbol.

I get 30-32mpg (over 400 miles full tank) on long runs and about 23-25mpg when using the loud pedal often. What’s it doesn’t like, likely due to weight, is start/stop inner town/city driving, which I thankfully do very little of. That’ll ironically bring same mpg as when pushing the loud pedal.

We went from a ‘16 gen 1 fully loaded GTS to a ‘23 gen 3 fully loaded GTS. The gen 1 was 100% better sounding but the gen 3 is otherwise a phenomenal family car. Fuel economy, also don’t care 🤣 The main rationale? We now have the car we love and can drive it for many years longer and many more miles without needing to change. Anything newer won’t be the same to live with 😕

Without doubt the 2020 model “with switches” is the one to have. The 2020 model can easily be mapped/tuned…
