Lovely. I love a blue car. My first and third Octavia were race blue. This generation of Mini is so much nicer than the last. I look forward to regular reports.

Regarding Carly, you should really make it clear that using the coding feature has the possibility for the car manufacturer invalidating their warranty on your car, if of course, it is still under warranty.

Also worth noting it is a yearly subscription. They aren’t very transparent with that

That’s why I never progressed with my purchase
I went for a Top Don solution instead.

The R53 Copper S was my intro to the hot hatch world back in 2005, so I have always had a soft spot for them. The new one is so colour and spec sensitive – your long termer is delightful 🙂

Carly is a scam really. It’s actually a subscription that you’re signing up to, something that YouTubers are not telling people which is disingenuous at best. Also whatever price you sign up for, it remains at that price even if they reduce the price on their website. They also make sure YouTubers make a big deal about being able to modify your car, even though it’s not available for many cars.

I actually made a video about it on my channel.

Nice to see you’ve got another Mini longtermer Pete. It looks fantastic in that blue/black combination.

I’ve got an U25 Countryman and totally agree it’s crazy it doesn’t show the current gear in the head up display. Also it’s not a big problem but also weird indicators are missing from the head up display as well.

Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got planned in the coming months and most of all enjoy the drive ☺️

Nice to see MINI back on the drive. You nailed the statement about the JCW trim should be kept to JCW cars it really devalues the JCW.

That’s a beaut and I love the rear and single pipe. Took one out for a test drive recently, just to see what it was like…..it was fantastic. Currently own a Cooper S but planning to get a JCW in the future.

Obviously it’s got a lot bigger than the original car, but looks are good though. I’d have different wheels too tbh. Some 5 or 6 spokes similar to a Fuchs wheel on that spec would look cool. I’m wondering with your Carly, if you can change the heads up display to also show the gearing at all, would be handing when using it spiritedly.

I got one of these in September to replace my F56 JCW. I really like the new styling both inside and out and agree with your points re the heads up display. Why it doesn’t show which gear you are in or the indicators seems bizarre considering how much other stuff it does show! As for the car itself its comparable to the F56 though do find the added torque makes this one more of a handful with torque steer. New layout of the interior is great, looks less busy than the F56 and feels roomier too. My main criticism of the new car is the build quality on some of the switch gear as some of the plastics used are very poor, most notably on the start key which feels cheap and flimsy and doesn’t belong on a car costing 35k.

I actually prefer classic chrome trim on the Mini. I think it perfectly highlights the classic design cues rather than dowdy black.

Paddy Hopkirk could be the alternative specification above 👆🏻 or below JCW
