    Good evening everyone!
I’m only 45 minutes drive from Bradford on Avon so I’ll come along on the 1st and say hello.

Evening all hope everyone is well. Enjoying a few days away helping a friend on his farm in the Cotswolds and enjoying a slower pace of life.

Lapel mic failed on this one. Hence to poor quality sound 😢

I agree, you need a bit more fabric in that room Pete for sound deadening, nothing to do with the actual quality of the mic.

Simple facts: Germany has been almost entirely reliant on the Chinese market for growth, as the EU and UK are largely saturated markets without much potential for growth. Chinese manufacturers have now got more than good enough at manufacturing to produce cars as good as Porsches but for less money.

    The end.

German manufacturers need to figure out how to adapt to a smaller market and make cheaper electric cars – a thing that Citroen are proving is entirely possible, even within the EU.

If they don’t, this is just the start.

2025? Quite a few going down the pan.
Not sure politicians are smart enough to pull their necks out of the sand, yet.

Car manufacturers make me laugh if it was the other way around and couldn’t build them fast enough like in 2020 when they inflated the price ,,,
Shareholders and the like are greedy ,, if they could they would rob the public for every penny,,,my heart bleeds for them not

Shareholders invest in companies to make a return on that investment – that is normal. Companies generate wealth for retirement funds and create jobs. They pay tax as do their employees. Without companies you have the Soviet Union.

They have to make hay when the sun shines to ensure that the business survives when times are hard.

It going to be interesting to see how the uk government reacts to the fact that manufacturers are pushing back on going full EV. They are instead continuing to offer a range of cars that us the consumer want to buy. Market forces drive innovation government stifles it!

Who can afford to buy any new car? Need to stop blaming EVs. No one is forcing you at the dealer to buy one.

The Government ZEV review has just closed so when that outputs it would be a great time for a main channel and podcast update. One factual one emotional 😁

I think Ford might go under soon , as a big Capri fan the new EV Capri is not selling , as if you check autotrader on 2nd hand prices they have EV capris with 200 miles on and only 6 weeks old at £38k when a new one is £58k so it’s lost £20k that’s a mad loss .

Time to rock up to Porsche and ask for allocation for GT3 with zero buying history?

The legacy manufacturers like BMW,MB,VW Audi & Porsche are going to have a grim old time with the giant £100k plus SUVs & cars as the appetite for full EVs continues to wane. Car Coach Reports from the US have reported that Deloitte have done a survey of 33,000 EV owners and only 5% are going to have another EV.

I actually went on and specced a taycan earlier, base model, literally added just a few extras, like Bose, the memory seats and the matrix headlights and I was at £97k….. it’s just not sustainable, even for a high end car brand like Porsche. The top spec one starts at 190k, that’s utterly absurd

100% agree with you, it may start to fall around the so called “high end” makers

Fundamentally Porsche started producing cars that people didn’t really really like e.g. Taycan or turbocharged Cayman, Boxster (982) and 991.2 Carrera and 992 Carrera (this especially applies to long term owners with long buying history with Porsche). There are far better options than the Cayenne or Macan. If you don’t produce cars that people like, sales suffer and to maintain the bottom line you have to increase prices,…….. the dog eats its tail. As a result the Porsche share price has dropped from around 100 EURO to ~ 35 EURO over the last three or four years. Peak Porsche was delivered by 981/982 and 991 NA cars. Moreover, Porsche was determined to produce EV Caymans and Boxsters, literally every knowledgable person told Porsche they would be dead on arrival and yet Porsche still expended a large amount of shareholder capital on their development. Many corporate heads will role.

A useful update, manufacturers do have ups and downs but the constant government pressure ultimately says stop what you are doing, then unfortunately redundancy happens ( alongside poor sales). Thanks Pete 👏👏

I’ve heard from an industry insider that Mercedes EV production in Germany is running at 33% capacity. Things are not good in the EV world, new sales have tanked, and there’s no demand secondhand.

Im happy that Porsche are going back into the ICE/Hybrid engines.
I literally just bought a 718 Boxster again last Saturday at Porsche Bristol, my 3rd Porsche and I assumed it was going to be my last ICE engined car which is why I went for a Porsche so fingers crossed as i will be gutted to go to EV
