Finally, an ! Well technically it is a Mini Cooper S Electric in Sport Trim. It has all the important things I enjoy about the Mini JCW including a cool rear wing, bonnet stripes, red brake callipers, sports seat and a very cool interior.

    Good evening Peddlerz! Hope you enjoyed New York Ped, best city in the world 🌎 and even more special since we were married there 👌 Can’t wait for Santa coming, not long now since we all never really grow up! Car price video would be good, it’s been all over the place for a good couple of years now. JCW electric looks awesome, pity it’s not an original ICE power pack! Can’t beat am estate car especially a shooting break. Saw the M3 touring at the NEC, incredible car along with the incredible price tag 😮 definitely a future classic though! Looking forward to that 👌

    You’re turning into an EV channel Pete, I can tell the OEMs have a lot of EVs sitting about and are trying their hardest to shift them on 😉 Maybe have a warning “recommended for short daily usage only” due to the perils of the c charging network. I’ve heard the canteen at the cobalt mines leave a lot to be desired too… Can we find an EV that uses a battery that doesn’t utilise child labour? Gotta think of petrolped brand cleanliness here I think, love ya !

      Wonder what they will be like when or if they get to the age of my 1999 SL320. Just can’t imagine they will last that long?

      @RodMatheson

      @Yorkshiremadmick  I’m with you on that. I love my 1990 Volvo 240 daily and my other classics. EV are just a stop gap in the market and very expensive at that. I’m not against progress but EV is not a long term solution even though some of the tech is brilliant. You’ll never beat ICE though.

    Face tracking is freaky for the mw180! I’ll be amazed if that mini gets anywhere near 250 miles from 54kwh

      @@rogermartinez78 that is a seriously impressive efficiency figure you are able to get, Bravo! I wish I could get near that with our cars 😎 the Peugeot e208 I had averaged 3.9 m/kwh over 3 years (46kwh usable), would manage 190 from < 40mph driving, 140-160 on motorway. Our polestar 2 manages 240-260 from 67 usable (a little less motorway but we tend to stop after 180ish so never stretched it) neither would get near 5m/kwh. Crossing my fingers for the new one as I bet my wife would love to go back to a mini!!

    I’m currently in the Austrian alps and I spotted a countryman in camo wrap yesterday at a service station on charge, I asked the guys what it was and they couldn’t say, was very clearly an EV countryman. I asked if it was the JCW and they said it wasn’t, I asked if the JCW was becoming just a cosmetic option but they confirmed that the electric JCW is very much in development and it will be a performance variant. I added that I was very excited and optimistic about it and they were confidant people wouldn’t be disappointed.

    Welcome back Peter! You look to have had a wonderful time with Tracey and I hope you get back there again soon! Now..to be quick! Car prices are a minefield and depreciation is a big worry.what do you buy now??….how much will it lose and then think insurance costs……One quirk I have discovered is Porsche is much cheaper to insure than similar cars but why?? I fear that cars will no longer be bought but only be on monthly subscription and that is coming very, very fast…😳 well done on forthcoming content…you never let us down!!! 😃😃😃Richard.

    I’m a long-time MINI and Mini fan – had one of the first R53s, and before that a bonkers Cooper 35. I’ve been waiting for the new electric JCW as my next car. Unfortunately, this isn’t it – it’s an SE with some badges (which is pretty similar to the first “JCW”s for the R53.

    How long have I been waiting? Well, I had the JCW Clubman on order with MINI from the first week it was announced. Then the UK model was pushed back again and again. After a year of waiting, I told MINI that any more delays and I’d go and buy a Golf. So when they pushed it back AGAIN I walked into a VW showroom, and out again with one of the last R32s – for the same sort of money that I was going to be buying the MINI for. And the R32 has been sodding fantastic – more practical than the MINI and a lot faster.

    But my R32 is now over 15 years old, and well past the point at which I should replace it (but personal circumstances, you know). I’m now in a position to swap, and for a lot of reasons an electric JCW would be perfect.

    This, however, isn’t it. It’s an SE with a paint job. Looks like I might be going back to that VW dealership. Because I don’t see my R32 lasting to 2025 in the hope that there might be a proper JCW by then 🙁

    Hi Ped
    Glad you both enjoyed New York, having had a taster you will go back again for sure. Another EV when the market is slowing, testing times ahead for all manufacturers. Following COP 28 no doubt many will be disappointed, but perhaps a little common sense is being displayed at long last. The headlong rush towards net zero was ill thought out, with no real discussion of the economic costs to industry and the country as a whole. I am not against progress and change but it has to be sensibly managed, otherwise we will “go back to living in caves”. Do we really want to bankrupt this country and say we showed the world how to combat climate change, when we are responsible for less than 1% oh global emissions.🤭 Could make an interesting topic for a podcast or video.
