McLaren Artura Spider – Is it finally the car it should have been ?!

The McLaren Artura had a tough start with lots of well documented issues. Is the 2024 McLaren Artura Spider the automobile that should have been introduced 5 years ago?

Question: How can you have watched the video when it was only uploaded 19 minutes ago and it’s 35 minutes long…. 🤔

Delightful 🥰The Artura has really matued since launch. It looks so pretty, even more so in that purple. It’s sad that both this and the 296 loose so much money though 🙁

Sods law you’d get to take an Artura Spider out when it’s bucketing down Ped.
If my numbers come up tonight, then I’ll be right round the local McLaren dealer tomorrow but I can’t see the savvy buyer forking out nearly £300k for a new one of these too often.

Mclaren do BIG deals on them as not even people who got 300k disposable finances for a car don’t like depreciation. Mclaren do deals on them to shift them.

have to say what a car, shame about the weather, but it sounds good looks great (not so sure I would have that colour) and if you had the money would appear value for money, great one Pete as usual

I have had my Artua for 2.5 years and its been amazing. I have put on over 18k km so far. Yes I had some issues in the begining as I had one of the first cars built but McLaren fixed them all quickly and its been running fawlessly. I don’t think there is a better all round daily car out there than this one. If you can afford it…buy it!

I’d love a Mclaren Pete, but id have to finance one, which would then cripple me if/when anything went wrong with it.

    Absolutely agree – great review.

By chance I drove the Ferrari 296 & Artura back to back at Goodwood on Tuesday.

Yes, the 296 is on paper more car.
And the Artura’s performance was so accessible from the off. I felt I could push it – and so did McLaren’s man in the other seat. The car inspires confidence.

I had an amazing day, driving a huge variety of cars – the Artura was the one I left wanting to own.

A stunning looking car Pete. A great pity about the rain. Maybe you might be able to have the car on a sunny day in the future. Hope so.

Got to love the McLaren option tax. BMW charges just £3k for their Electrochromic pano roof, and it’s 3x the size

I suspect all the premium brands play the same game with options, and let’s face it that’s why Ferrari are so profitable. Given that residual values will eventually come into play, and the likelihood of being able to sell a car will depend on the extras fitted. But which options do you feel would be help in these respects?

Another Great review Peter. Just need a lottery win now…

Definitely my favourite McLaren and would be top of my spend list (along with a Huracan Performante…) if that BIG Lottery Win ever happened. The Artura has a very sketchy reliability reputation and the depreciation on McLaren’s in general seems to be pretty high but if I had the where with all, I’d still be ordering one. I really like that Purple Paint but I like the Lime Gold too. No need for that elctrochromic glass roof. I’ll reserve judgment on the sports exhaust until I can hear the difference between it and standard. Akrapovic Titanium exhausts for McLarens seem to be £5-6.5K…

Another “lottery win” car for the garage, Pete. Stunning – they got there. I love the colour, completely onboard with you as a McLaren fan-boy!
