Seen a few Emira’s on the road and I think they look great. Agree the price is the issue for this car. Green and tan lightly used for £60k stacks up well. Loads out there. I’m a little biased with a 718 4.0 Spyder, but the Boxster/Cayman still pips it for me brand new….

Head says Porsche. Heart says Lotus. Nice comparison Ped, but disappointed you didn’t try to fit the bike in 😂

Great video, thanks Pete 👍🏻 you can daily an Emira, one of my mates uses his as a station car. When I have driven Emira back to back with my 718 spyder I find the Emira more exhilarating and a better drivers car. It really is brilliant. The spyder is more of a head than a heart car. I bought mine for touring, has great luggage space, although Emira has better ride by a long way. The Emira has a few issues though. 1) is that appalling square and fat steering wheel. 2) the brakes are over servoed 3) it has a degree of rev hang, although it’s much better than my 430CUP was in that respect. LOTUS have said they won’t do a convertible so all round the boxster wins as a proposition BUT the Emira is a better drivers car and more fun / exciting. Therefore you can make a case for both. And Emira’s now a tad over £60k used with low miles! And thanks for the mention 😎👍🏻 14 x 675LT’s, 1,000 miles each over 3 days, not a single issue

@@bispal hell, no! 😂. I have a 981 GT4. A McLaren, unless my numbers come up, is too rich for me but I like reading owners experiences etc.. your contributions are always measured and considered unlike some… well you know. I quite like the Emira though I’ve not driven one. The 718 F4 flavour doesn’t work for me.

Agree with all the points you made – Looks Emira (its a mini 488 – which you can get for 120K…), Storage (Boxster/Cayman) wins by a mile (I regularly do a weekly supermarket shop for 4 using the frunk), drive (hard one that – Emira edges it – shame you cant get manual in the 4 pot), I don’t like the Supercharger sound its too much of a whine – and a 6-Pot Boxster (new GTS) – sound not noise; but its the price – for 90K go for a Cayman (or save yourself 20K and get one with a few miles on it. But then the Emira is beautiful

Much as I love a Porsche, if I had the money it would be the Lotus every time. It looks absolutely stunning and it’s just a lot more special. But that’s if we’re choosing between these two.

My absolute fave at the moment is the original R8 GT. And it would have to be the one with the wind in the hair experience. I nearly bought one on a whim a year or so ago. I wish I had.

With both these cars, in the end, it’s all about the sound(s) so it’s the 6 cylinder version(s) that’s the best….

Great comparison video Pete… Let’s be honest, they’re both vehicle which you’d trade your missus for, but the Lotus you’d throw your daughter into the deal to get it! 😜 It’s just got that something super special about it that turns heads wherever you go and the performance to go with the looks 🤩

    Hi Ped
You did not disappoint with this video. Whilst I have owned two Lotus classics (Elite Super 95 & Bid Valve Twin Cam 7) and loved every minute on the road, I have to admit that given the choice today it would have to be Porsche, heart & head. Amusing aside to this Mrs P vowed for years that if I ever bought a Porsche she would divorce me.🤭 Not that I was looking for a divorce, but I bought a Porsche, divorce threat was withdrawn and I had to hide the keys.🤐

Lucky enough to meet Petrol Ped last night in Torino. Absolute gentleman, hope you had a good day. Love the looks of the Lotus but for the time being I will stick with my cayman until I see if lotus is still lots of trouble etc. Went on the rooftop track today, Get a bloomin move on playing

I used my 992 C2S as a daily and know what you mean about retaining the ‘specialness’ . I didn’t care about mileage as such as it was a car I always wanted and it had to be enjoyed. Now I have a 2022 S3 and a 996 C4S and I believe the best of both worlds.

The Lotus looks stunning as long as the LOTUS badge on the side went missing it looks stupid.
The problem for me is the weights on the cars means I could not tow my caravan a shame LOL
When it comes to the packing in the Lotus I have a plan. Naturist site, you don’t need to pack. Now to be fair as I pulled up people would look and admire but when I get out a lot of people would laugh or being sick so may be not be my best plan. All in all I would have to go for your Porsche and tow the caravan with the Range Rover.
    Great video as always

Btw. Great video. Side shot at ~24 mins with the sky – ❤.

Been following you for about 5 years and the the ‘production’ has matured nicely (not that I am in any way an expert, I still chop people’s heads off in photos) but there is a continuity in your style that makes content so watchable.

That was a very fair review. I tried the Emira vs a 4.0 GTS (including taking the GTS round the Porsche handling circuit) but ended up sticking with my Evora Sport 410 as it felt more special than either of them – it is a a weekend and odd track day car car rather than a daily driver. Thanks Pete

The two cars that I’d love to own above all others: McLaren F1 and Ferrari Dino. That may sound odd- they are very different things. However, they both have mid-mounted engines, double wishbone control arms, manual gearboxes, non-electric power steering, nicely damped ride with lean in the turns (not overly stiff), and gorgeous looks. For me, the only car on sale today that hits those boxes is the Lotus. Thats why I ordered one. In a day where ICE cars are being dulled with electronic aids, or replaced with EVs, it’s the one I want to keep.
