Could this be the ideal family bus? Substantial amounts of area, eccentric looks and a fantastic rate point! I drive the all new Kia PV5 Guest and was pleasantly shocked!

    Thanks for the review Ped. I’m not the target audience for this type of vehicle (irrespective of EV or not). But yet again Kia produce another vehicle which hits the spot in terms of price and a poke in an eye for the Germans (specifically)….

    The rear door opening like that is a killer due to the way it opens. Multi story… Or someone parting close you are stuck.

      Maybe parking front direct to parking space? I always park rear first to space….and sometimes my Q5 is too long to open trunk…😢

    I was interested to see this review drop, because a certain other channel did a Buzz / PV5 comparison. I have a view on this, being a Buzz owner.

    Firstly, I do love the PV5, and I think it’ll be a game changer for commercial fleets.

    For context, we bought a second hand Buzz before the PV5 was even announced. We got a great deal, our Buzz had 4,000 miles on the clock, has all the toys and cost PV5 big battery money, this was about a year ago. It is WONDERFUL to drive. Now, given the fact a low mileage second hand Buzz will be similar money to the big battery PV5, I think I’d still go secondhand Buzz tomorrow, so no regrets. For lots of reasons… The extra comfort, the driving experience, rear wheel drive (debatable, but I prefer it), range, performance, charging speed, sheer good looks (again, my opinion, I like the PV5 but I like the Buzz more). My point being, given the Buzz is starting to appear as a second hand option, and I’m sure a low mileage one will be similar money, if you have £40k the Buzz will be nicer.

    Tiny point on the height, I do live in France and most mutistorey carparks have a 1.8m limit. You basically can’t park a PV5 in central Nîmes! The Buzz is 1.85m but the 0.05 is only aerial. In fact, I’m tempted to look into having it moved!! 😂

      I suppose the extra consideration is the fact the Kia has a 7 year warranty on everything although the Buzz does have an 8 year 100k warranty on the battery I think. You’ve also got to consider what the pre reg and nearly new prices might be for the Kia not just compare them to the new prices. Some of the current Kia electrics have really good savings on them with the warranty transferring.

      ​@stevenham1937Yeh, that’s all fair comment. 🙂 I obviously haven’t driven a PV5 yet, but the reviews to date suggest it’s good for a van, but it’s a van. And the Buzz isn’t £20k better. Which, looking at new prices, is probably fair, but I do know the Buzz is really nice to drive and sit in, so if I were in the market right now I’d definitely drive both before deciding. And I don’t know about other places, but here in France a “green” bank loan on a second hand EV would be a better deal than finance from a Kia dealership anyway.

    I ordered one here in Spain 🇪🇸. Top trim level and ‘luxury pack’ came to €46k. Delivery ETA mid to late February.

    As you say, I’ll be using it for moving people and moving stuff. I have a very small city car for a daily driver as the city carparks that were built here in the 70’s and 80’s would be just about impossible with the PV5, even with the 360° cameras and relatively tight turning circle.

    I will be using the PV5 for long journeys. I really, really don’t mind stopping for half an hour every two hours – everybody knows that everybody *should* be doing that anyway – even in a diesel with a 500 litre fuel tank!

    Test drive one on the 18th. Taking delivery of mine late January.
    It is a great piece of kit. 7 year warranty. 8 year battery warranty. Made me steer away from the ID Buzz. Along with the Korean reliability. I saw it as a no brainer.
    The build quality is far better than I expected from a car derived van, too. The range fits my usage profile for 95% of the time. Can’t wait to take delivery.

      The 7 year warranty is essential. Speaking as a Hyundai EV owner whose new car (delivery February 2025) has spent 10 weeks in 2025 at the dealership with a broken ICCU and 3 way coolant valve (sounds innocent but RRP on the part is around 700 quid, not the ICCU, which costs many thousands, just a little water valve – seven HUNDRED quid). So, yeah, Korean reliability, hmm, not something to celebrate.

    I know it is a lot cheaper than a buzz but how does it stack up against an electric transit? Both are vans where as a buzz is more of an mpv

    It’ll be great when they release one with a larger battery, even if it costs a bit more. A real world range of 200 maximum, and nearer 100 when fully loaded is a bit too low. Looks great though.

    One thing i was picturing straight away was if those front seats could swivel round like in some vans you’d have a fun lounge for picnics and socialising. Shame.

    Put any weight in this vehicle as trades people do and the range would plummet! My sons a builder and this would be hopeless in that setting. Around town with light loads and it would probably work during the day without a top up charge.

    That’s just not enough range. Maybe on a lease but that battery tech would be outdated in a few years..

    The seven seater version (due at some point in 2026, apparently) could be a real hit with taxi firms – airport runs for the family holiday – up to six passengers plus luggage – could be a winner.

    Might depend on how the extra seats are configured, how much space they take up, how they split, etc.

    I agree, the PV5 looks very tidy indeed, however I need at least 7 seats to make this truly useful, along with Towing 1500kg. When those boxes are ticked I’ll be queuing to buy one, or perhaps two….?
