These Kia EVs are a hideous design. These black plastics and design will date very quickly on used market

It is not a 48k car. It is bang average and plain, like all milkfloats. And to be honest, the interior is nothing special at all – it is an ageing design and on a car so new, it looks dated and past its best. I cant see many Sportage buyers/owners swapping for this crate.

And the range – shocking – 95pc charge and 249 miles of range – thats a 25% range drop and its not even hard core winter. So in reality, it only has 180-200 miles real world range. Pathetic. Utterly pathetic.

    Just isnt worth it.

      It absolutely is a £48k car !
      Think you are stuck in 2005 – it’s now 2025 !💡

All cars like this are plain and average – Nissan’s, Ford’s, VW’s, Peugeot’s etc…. The GT version will spice it up !

Range – it’s a press car so driven hard. It will easily do 300+ miles under normal driving conditions. I know this because I have a BMW iX, which is a much larger car , has a smaller battery (71 vs 81), more power (320 vs 214), heavier (2.5 vs , 2.1) and it does 270 miles real world.

@SDK2006b For 48k, I’d be getting a better car in a slightly used Lexus or some sort. This Kia is less than bang average.

@auditingabdoool3217 ahhh , the old and pointless used vs new comparison. What did that Lexus cost new RRP?

Man with no brain uses the “milk float” line

@SDK2006b Pointless to you but not everyone buys a car new or for list price. But you are too stupid to realise that.

I should imagine that a lot of your subscribers will say this design is fugugly !!! And I tend to agree, but as you say, beauty is most definitely ( in this case ) in the eye of the beholder 👌👌

It’s a large suv with a 480kg max loading weight. That’s less than a Hyundai i10. Being kind people now are way taller and heavier. Having a car this size that could be overweight with 4 adults and luggage is ridiculous.

    1. @SDK2006b Avatar
      @SDK2006b

4x 100Kg adults, and 80KG of luggage is honestly enough. Unless you are taxi driver specialising in Rugby player team airport runs.
Also, some of the trims have 586kg loading weight

Acres and acres of pale grey plastic cheapen the interior ! Electric only which with is a shame considering the govt taking a major u-turn on the extended production timescale for combustion engined vehicles. The trouble is Pete high speed charging when out and about costs in many cases more than fossil fuel!

I think KIA has tried to copy the Scenic design? Side view is so similar. Doesn’t appear to have worked overall though. Think the Scenic is a better car 😊

I’m very impressed with the design of this. I will be buying a new car in 2026 and currently this and a Lexus NX are on my list.

As a former EV6 GT owner which I loved, I actually really like the EV5 as much better space wise. However where I don’t understand things is Kia also have the EV4. In saloon version it makes sense, but as a hatch it surely competes directly with the EV3 and to some extent the EV5. So not sure of there thinking ?🤷🏻. However I do think not making the EV5 an 800v architecture was a missed opportunity especially charging wise as 400v can’t achieve the same potential speeds. So the charging is not that quick compared to the 800v cars. Especially considering it is on the E-GMP platform.
Have a great Xmas guys 🍷🍻

Great video review Ped! Yes it’s a great looking and stylish car. But I’m personally just fed up with all these SUVs I can’t care if they’re EV or ICE.

haha you say in winter it only loses a bit… i have a colleague who has a merc ev and he wishes he never bought it, after 2 years, range is down from 280 toi 220, in winter its nearer 160, he says many owners never talk about the reality. He said he charges it at home like normal, and just finds its the worst he has ever made and cant wait to get back to a ICE car!

I have the option of salary sacrifice. I’m a pure petrolhead so this is a dilemma for me. That said, I have an 911 996 to offset so not the end of the world.

I wonder if the AC controls are blocked on a left-hand drive version. Could just be that right-hand drive countries were an afterthought for the Kia design team.

Hello Peter! This is clearly a very good family car with much to like….it does everything well and has a range that would work for most people. It looks pleasing, not too big nor small…it is…ummm…like a favourite cup of tea. Very good…but do you LOVE tea??? It seems to lack any character and I don’t say that because it is anEV….it just is a bit bland. Also….money….On Tuesday I came across a totally loaded BMW i5 40 Touring with every last option box ticked. It is a 25 plate and I checked the list price ..£93874! Today…at 1700 miles it is on sale for £54073….so near enough £40,000 down the tubes…is it now a bargain or still like riding a rock fall??? Enough…R🤔🤔😃😃😃😃😃
