I bought a 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged, I was excited for the direction they were taking the design at that point. The latter XF models were even better. This is just sad.

Although rare, “Heather Pink” was a factory Jaguar paint colour back in the day so there’s a historic link that’s passed many by – plenty of examples of E-Types and XJ6 in the colour. It’s basically the same as the ‘Miami Pink’ they’ve shown.

Yes true, I recall a new V12 E type coupe in that colour bought by a local councillor and the controversy over how he was able to pay for it ? !

If Type 00 fails it will be down to the marketing/boardroom direction alienating their core customers and pandering to the ‘message’

@@altern8tive the “core customers” you speak of disappeared long ago – there were not enough of them to sustain a viable business.

No, it will because British management kinds are lazy, not really interested in cars, and want a mug to buy their overpriced garbage 😅

Jaguar let all models dwindle, not just the I pace. Having let them die, buyers turned away. Hence the 10% sales figures. Land-rover thrived with constant attention, updates, refreshes et al.

My thoughts on that concept car was the same as yours FAB1 . I cannot understand what Jaguar are now about its management has lost the plot and it’s the death of another British iconic car brand.

If Jag stays in business, with this new direction they’ll be selling well below the 10% off JLR sales they currently do.

But they might actually make a profit on those fewer sales! Currently they loose money on every car they sell……

Have to say totally agree can not get my head round what sort of strategies they are going for , rebrand yes every company does that, not ways well, but nothing to sell for going on two years mind blowing

Jags have always had sexiness, a little bit naughty. An East End Gangsters car, and I just couldn’t see Mad Frankie Freser turning up with his thumb screws to meet a “client” and saying “before we get down to business have you got anywhere to plug my pink Jag in.”

    Great comments.

I too have been a big Jaguar fan. Currently on number 6, a 2016 XF S Supercharged. Beautiful car and goes really well.

Very worried about Jaguar since they jumped off a cliff with nothing but an EV parachute.

The ad was bonkers and alienated a lot of people.

But I do get the desire to go upmarket. They tried premium and got soundly trounced by BMW. Which is a shame as, although I like BMW and have owned 4, the Jaguars I have driven have been better.

The two big problems for Jaguar have been (1) unreliability reputation and (2) poor dealer service.

I get that they are changing the dealership model but they have a lot to learn about customer service.

The jump to ultra luxury won’t work until they fix their reliability problem. So I am (sadly) sceptical.

I don’t particularly like the new, brutal and brooding design language but I am prepared to be persuaded…

The design of the Jag is very Art Deco along with the pastel colour schemes. I think that is why they launched it in Miami as it is renowned for its art deco architecture. The press release images remind me of the 1920s art deco train advertising posters.

It may have notes of art deco but it doesn’t have the imposing style of art deco. The front and rear are way too bland and muddled for art deco.
