Is The Škoda Elroq The ELECTRIC Yeti We’ve Been Waiting For ? – FIRST DRIVE

The Elroq is the replacement to the Karoq, which changed the Yeti. So it's generally an electrical Yeti! I went to Mallorca to drive the current compact from Skoda. It's the infant bro of the very best selling in Europe, the Enyaq, so it must be quite great!

    Great Review Pete! Škoda have been making some excellent cars for quite a long time now ! What a real shame they haven’t made a self charging petrol hybrid utilising the very latest technology. Not sure who’s going to buy a full on EV and this is an even more difficult choice with our current lunatic government who just leave us all guessing as to what the future holds! 😡😡😡

      Skoda’s are based on VW hybrid tech, and because VW produce only plug-in hybrids, then Skoda do the same.

      Self charging is such a pointless power train, that manufacturers won’t be investing in it.
      It’s a petrol powered car at the end of the day, so ignore all this self charging BS.

      @@SDK2006b So 1 out of every 40 cars is an EV, so it still has some way to go, lol. You have to wonder how this will pan out when electricity supply is restricted as it surely will be if Labour carry on with their ridiculous plans for the countries energy needs! Recharging is becoming increasingly expensive especially if one relies on fast chargers at petrol stations, tally in the governments announcements that they will be charging road tax on EV’s in the future!

    Good looking car and will wait to see the prices. I also hope they bring out a Yeti as that car was just so flexible and practical. One minute its carries a family and all the luggage in comfort next you are down the tip loaded up with old fence panels! Please give us what we want Skoda!

      The power figures are pretty meaningless in an EV, as the power is delivered completely differently to an ICE vehicle.
      Just go by the performance figures, which is all that’s important.

    Going to say it, when are they going to put an ENGINE in this car? and not another EV, wonder how people coped with EVs with the recent Electricity problems during the storms… I know what I would rather have when we have bad weather … definitely NOT an EV!

    2. @johnnodge4327 Avatar
      @johnnodge4327

      They won’t put an engine in this car, as it’s an EV platform, so an engine with it’s large, immovable components won’t fit. There’s already an ICE equivalent anyway, so why would they make another?

      Anyway in the recent power cuts, I used the car battery to backup my house, now do that with a petrol car.

    Having been impressed by electric cars with my first dabble into the EV revolution until I got massacred with the devaluation of the genre I will be staying well clear until my hand is forced. That is a car that could change my mind but I would want AWD as the powertrain for trips up to the highlands of Scotland in the winter maybe someday we will get a 4×4 Yeti EV if you keep pushing your contacts at Skoda.

      @solentbum

      @@markskeplorn6593 You would trade the benefits of a warning that could save your licence just to avoid the occasional bong? An incorrect bong will trigger you to double check your speed and the current limit, whereas no bong could leave you in ignorance that you are speeding.
