Has Renault Saved The Best Until Last With The New Twingo ?

I flew to the beautiful island of Ibiza to get behind the wheel of the current icon to be redeemed by Renault … The Twingo. I liked the appearances when I saw it last year in a studio and have been looking forward to driving it. I wasn't disappointed!

Renault smashed it out of the park again with the design, the wife has already been eyeing one of these up for her next car, looks great in that yellow as well,

I always thought that French cars came out of the factory pre dented, to save any trouble.

Its also why most of the wings were made out of plastic(looking at you MkII Renault Megane) 😂

No that’s an optional extra you only need for Parisian driving

OMG, I want this as much as I want a Gen 1 – and that search has been actively happening for months now! Renault are in such a good place ATM. Bravo!

This 💯- I had a mk1 in 1994 to 1998.. saw the designs and thought YESSS!

The black window surround combined with the soft orange reminds me of my mums Honda Z600 from the 70s.

With my latest off peak tariff I could charge that fully from empty for £1. Not bad for at least 100 miles of running around in such a funky thing. Brilliant.

Same – 94p cost for a full charge in this car. ⚡👍

@SDK2006b free at my place only off peak between 12pm-6am for up to 400kwhs a month. Our electric mix is now over 65% nuclear&renewables. Our 2 equinox evs have cost us less than $5 total a month in energy cost since we got them!

My Renault Megane Etech has the 60KWH battery, so £3.12 for a full tank, that will do 280 miles in Summer.

I’ve got 2 mk1 Twingos, and bought an R5 EV that I’ve had for nearly a year, and I absolutely love. I can see the Twingo EV replacing the R5 when the time comes to change. Renault have done a great job on it. 😍

It’s basically what we used to call a ‘shopping car’, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Ideal for the weekly shop, and much more.

Love it so much! I’ve never forgotten the Autocar review back in the day that said it was acoustically perfect inside – I never understood that, but was always intrigued.

We need more simple cars like this.

yes but with bigger packs imo, the new verge ts electric bike has 20 or 30kwh pack options smh.
Semi solid state&solid state cells will very quickly change all of this in the next 2-3 years imo.
That will make the resale values PLUMMET for anything with under 200 miles of range ev wise. And even up to 250.
I think all the 300+mile evs though will retain their values much better overall. That is why I leased our second equinox!

Loved seeing Ibiza San An again. We loved it there in 2019, family holiday, hired two Seat Ibiza’s, with a lush huge Villa just outside the main town area.

The car looks perfect for this this type of use 👍😊

The journalists are all over this car today but you’ve aced it P.Ped thanks for this ‘ joie de vivre’ review. I live in rural south west France where we never see salt on the roads and seeing 30 or even 40 year old cars in daily use is not uncommon. Seeing an old Twingo always brings a smile.

Love it. The joy it gives is obvious to you and the pedestrian reactions. Perfect for city driving.

Would be ideal with the fabric roof off the 4 but apparently that’s been delayed as the supplier went bust.

Hello Again, back in the 90’s I drove a rented Renault Twingo with my wife and two young children from Roquetas de Mar – Almeria to Calahonda the other side of Malaga along the old twisty coast road taking in places like Nerja, although the trip took a few hours the kids loved the car, we stayed over night near Mijas then traveled back the following day, we all loved the trip.
Back in the UK I was under a lot of pressure to buy one, my eldest son now 43 still has a Twingo toy model.
    Best regards.

Ok it’s another cool looking reborn Renault as an EV. So when’s the Renault 11 and 21 coming back! Great review I so love your enthusiasm and shear energy when you do it. Makes for really enjoyable viewing!

I wanted a Renault Fuego when I was a kid, it looked so futuristic.
In other news, bare metal on the inside, rear windows pantograf, I get the vibes of Aygo X which is getting a lot of heat for these very same things.

People! We own an Twingo E-Tech gen3, with a 21,3 kWh-battery (same yellow, by the way, same rear windows, same four doors, same tiny foot space in the back seats, same 82-hp-engine) with a canvas top, we drove over 30k kilometers by now, and we love our little yellow sunshine soooo much <3 !!! So this *bigger* battery would just be fine for us. Go for this little friend, people!
    You won`t regret it!
