    Can’t believe it’s been a year since the garage was built. We’ve just endured a horrendous storm here in Wellington NZ. Stay warm and dry over there

    When I started to build my house I went to the National Self Builld and Renovation Centre at Swindon, for advice on building systems, Finance and Insurance . It is essential to have the right Liability Insurance in place. So many ‘tradesmen’ claim to have it when they do not.

    A question :- What heating does the Garage have? it’s not obvious. My own garage has an ASHP (aircon unit) to keep it at an even temp in winter.
    Am I allowed to say ‘I told you so’, about the Charge Point. AT least it is an easily rectified problem, by a decent Electrician.

      We have a number of Rionte Connect electric heaters. You control them via an app on your phone. The building is so well isolated it doesn’t take much to maintain a decent temperature 👍

    I’ve never skimped on insurance. In my case it’s the NFU and it’s a mix of domestic and commercial. I go annually to the local office and sit down and go through the contract. My insurance is probably more complicated than most, but I’d not go down the price comparison route. Simply, you will only find out what cover you should have had when you claim, and by then it’s usually too late!
    Ever thought about solar PV and a battery?

      Yeah we got quotes for solar, powerwall and heat pump. Just struggled with the ROI. Maybe one day 👍

    I get that the insurance discussion might be sponsored, but it’s still an important point that most people are underinsured. We had to get extra coverage just for the fence installation around our property.

    Glad to see how the garage turned out. I remember the videos before the renovation. Looks great now.

    What happens if you make an insurance claim on a car with an illegal no plate, as we see on your mini. I had an mot fail for having the wrong gap between digits?
