FIRST LOOK – Nissan Micra – Can this car save Nissan ?

I took a trip to Barcelona to have a first take a look at the all brand-new Nissan Micra. Based upon the very same platform as the hugely effective Renault R5 and even built on the same factory, the sixth Generation Nissan Micra is a hugely important cars and truck for Nissan.

    Good evening everyone!
The Micra has been around since 1983, the year I started secondary school, makes me feel old 😂
As a recent R5 owner, it was frustrating that we didn’t have the Harman Kardon stereo option in the UK, good to see that the Micra gets it.

Good video. Not wishing to be too pedantic but it is not quite correct that the symbols on the charge port cap mean Nissan. The logo is representing 2 & 3 in Japanese. 2 is ni, and 3 is San, so it is actually ni san.

Hello again! Well I guess Badge Engineering never goes out of fashion! I read some FB comments earlier and the usual groaners called it a Fiat 500 copy and were not exactly kind to it but to me, whilst I would by the Renault, it is a worthy and likeable addition to the Nissan range. I seem to see ‘leather” seats and that would persuade Hilary to buy it just for that. I hope it sells for them….but I still would head to Renault because of the heritage and in memory of my old 16TX “ Reginald the Elderly Renault” !😃😃😃R

Another brilliant early review look at video Ped. It might be built on same platform and in same factory but the Renault 5 still is the better looking car!

A Sector electric cars are the future for volume of sales for all manufacturers.

knew nothing about this car, but the second i saw it i said, R5 roofline and size, i knew renault used to own 51% of nissan so no real surprise, it will do well i think P.S… my google smart speakers got involved in that too, haha

It’s a good looking cheeky car. Bit concerned the black plastic will scratch very easily. Base model may well be the real gem

If this is cheaper than the R5 it will sell well I think. But if around same price it can’t compete with the R5 appeal factor.

Nice early first view, just one thing you missed, the flappy paddles with regen control and OPD.

Another enjoyable and informative review Pete! Well, as with R5, Nissan should not have too much difficulty in selling this. Looks great, both inside and out. Cheers. Tom

Two things spring to my mind…will Nissan adopt the Renault 4 as the new Note?

And two…with the Leaf being a leader in EV from the start, have Renault adopted Nissan’s know how for the running gear and battery tech if this is truly a joint collab, or is it pure Renault?

If its pure Renault, but the new Leaf is pure Nissan, that’ll make servicing snd parts a headache for dealerships!

I very much doubt i will see any on the road any time soon.

I would really worry about the shiny plastics, Pete. How durable are they to road wear and tear? Not for me, rear seat room is far too small. I’ll stick with my MG4 for now (even though CCP is spying on me – allegedly!).

Looks a nice little car, but the instant I saw it, it was very obvious that it’s basically just an R5 with different headlights. Looks practically identical from the side. Now I understand the benefits of the shared platform but it’s a shame that there’s often so many cars out there, which are basically rebadged versions of other cars – Qashqai and Kadjar for example.

Anyway, well done for making the video an interesting one to watch. Not easy when there are so few differences to the R5.
