Seriously considering getting one of these. Only disappointment is the sliders for climate control, especially as the Polo is getting proper buttons

This looks to be a good effort by Cupra but it is difficult to make a proper assessment until the specifications, options and prices are known for UK cars and the models have been driven on our (poor) roads. Personally I think the Raval, with its marginally more rear leg room and more inviting interior, is more appealing than the Alpine A290 although the Alpine may be a more fun car to drive with its multi link rear suspension. As I believe Peter has a A290 on long term test I will be interesting to hear his views once he can drive the Raval. I dismissed the A290 from my shortlist because of its poor winter range. I suspect the Raval will also be compromised because wheelbase limitations and build cost restrictions limit the battery size. The V2 may be a better bet than the VZ for most buyers although I am drawn to the similar output forthcoming VW ID Polo and the GTi variant that might just be a little more restrained in appearance and character to the overtly sporty Raval.

It’s the ID Polo’s angry twin. Looks great. I guess they don’t sell in China, as the ID Polo and Cross have gone back to proper door handles…

My 2013 Volt PHEV won’t cover my new 50km each way commute EV only. Looking at all BEV that aren’t SUV. Something smaller and sporty would be good.

Looks great, the question is, is it better than the fiat 600/500 abath or alpine 290 because the Vz will need to be at that price.

Looks very nice, not something I’d buy at the moment as I’m quite happy with my Formentor now that it’s mostly electrically sorted.
I remember back in the 80s a Hi Fi stack system from Japan had so many flutes and whistles and twiddle bits that you were forever playing with it, same now with these modern cars and my Formentor is no exception, to be honest I hardly use any of the on screen tuning or adjustments as they can still be time consuming and temperamental.

Cool looking car that. But dunno who would buy it. Wonder what type of buyer will buy that

220hp in a wee hatchback is plenty really. It’s Golf GTi power with instant torque. My Renault Megane Etech is 220hp and 300nm torque. It’s more than enough acceleration out of a wet roundabout.

As someone with nowhere to charge at home, it would have been nice to have a self-charging hybrid version of this car as well, like the Honda Civic setup. And finally, entered the hatch market. I would have said the Cupra Born and Leon were hatchbacks, wouldn’t you?

200 miles range is plenty for such a compact city car. I think this will sell really well. Good made in Spain, and not China!
