FIRST DRIVE | Ferrari 849 Testarossa Spider – Is 1050hp too much for the road ?

The Testaross name is back and this time it is on the replcement to the Ferrari SF90. I got to drive the brand-new Ferrari 849 Testarossa Spider up a volcano in Tenerife and had many questions to address. Is 1050hp excessive for the road? Is the car pretty? Where are the door strakes?!

Living the life Pete. I’m really torn with this car….not that I can afford it. I have seen it at the Ferrari dealer and the design just doesn’t quite gel for me. It’s looking more like a Lambo than a Ferrari. Before I bought the 458 I drove a 488 and I thought that was too fast for enjoying on public roads. Can’t imagine how 1000hp would feel but surely….too much! Anyway, great review as always πŸ˜ƒ

A looker, it clearly isn’t (though it looks good from certain angles), but the performance is stellar. I bet it’s phenomenal to drive!

Do you remember when Ferraris were pretty cars……. isn’t the purpose of a supercar to look good? I think many of us feel its gone wrong.

Great camera work and visuals…..but it’s trying too hard to be a Lamborghini i.e sharp and shouty…the SF90 just had the classic curves and style.

Pete. Said it before and it may just be the colour but it is a design that only it’s mother could love. Absolutely appreciate the engineering but….

Thanks Ped, nice vid, enjoyed watching you enjoy this latest Ferrari beast! πŸ‘. Oh by the way, on the strength of your MAI vids, yesterday had a T800E fitted to our new motor, so far so very good! Cheers.

What an awesome vid. The car + that location + your camera work was πŸ‘Œhaving known the history of the Testarossa, plus your explanation of where the designers were at, makes this Testarossa more appealing. It’s grown on me, compared to when it was first launched. And I expect, it looks much better in person, than in film and photos. Thanks for this.
