    Sorry but you can’t use the adjective “simplistic” as applied to design. I hear it more and more in car reviews and it makes my hair stand on end. Please look up the definition. All the best.

    I knew it’s not related to this week’s topic, but i want to ask a question. Ped, you will not know the answer as you are a IAM driver. What is it that stops people switching on their lights in bad weather which we have had a lot of so far this year? I don’t accept leaving it to automatic headlights as it can be seen if they have come on and can be overridden if necessary.

    Hello Peter! Earlier today I posted some comments on an Autocar page regarding a planned new Volvo Estate. It is a drawing by them so not exact but I put in there that it needed a bank of physical keys/ knobs/buttons for all the driving operations so lights wipers, heating, basic radio functions, cruise etc and backed up by screens for the deeper menu dive when you need to programme or discover etc. So far 48 people have liked that idea so to hear the Ferrari is following exactly that is very pleasing! Sadly the Luca will no doubt be £500,000+ so not a worry for me then but it will be interesting to see how it gets received….not well is my guess…’The new Ferrari Taycan!!!” Etc…Will Tim order one?? That 911…I think I can guess…less is more will be the outcome but as a PDK for me now!

    Interesting, in China, the flush door handles on many electic cars.
    VW is to take several things off the screen and back on the dash.
    Tests have found the driver spend too long looking at the screen, and not the road.

    The steering wheel should be unadorned of switchgear, stupid place to put it.

    Ferrari + Ive = I appreciate the buttons and the effort in those as well as the 3d screen set up with analogue dials, but the Duplo-like simplicity of the shapes doesn’t seem to belong in something fast.
