Ferrari 296 Speciale – The TYRES Make The Difference ?

Are OEM significant tires actually any different from an off the shelf tire? Well I really wished to answer that concern so thanks to an incredibke welcome from Ferrari I headed to Anglesea to find out. Awaiting me there was an 880hp Ferrari 296 Speciale and one of the most lovely racce tracks in the UK.

    Tyre talk I have watched so much content on tyres and fit OEM tyres because the tyres are developed for the car. Your content gets better and better so much so my non petrol head wife likes listening now and my 18 year old daughter. Your doing a brilliant job informing and really showing import details that a lot miss thank you 🙏🏼 do me a favour can you drive the new shape Audi Q7 because I’m wanting to change my money pit from hell Range Rover ❤loved this

    Excellent video & well done for managing to organise this exclusive test event. Coincidentally, following your video on RPM Technik and geometry optimisation/OEM tyres etc., I was inspired to request RPM T to quote for full set of OEM tyres plus wheel alignment/geometry setting for my Porsche Macan S. Turns out that availability of Michelin OEM tyres is an issue. Best RPMT can offer is “late November at the earliest” for OEM Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyre set. Perhaps if I were a Michelin ambassador &/or had a Ferrari 296 Speciale things might be different, but poor availability of OEM spec. tyres seems to be a potential show stopper.

      So if you had an OEM tyre which got a nail in it (and bearing mind what the Michelin expert said about not mixing OEM and non-OEM on different axles, presumably even worse to mix on the same axle) you’d be off the road until late November or have to fork out for 4 non-OEM tyres in the meantime?
