evening everybody. Hope you doing well there. As one the Max/Lando crash. I think this was to going to happend, but yes as a dutch, was Max his fault. Was a good day because Aston won the 24h off spa. And i must say, Valour is the car bond should drive.

From one Masters Distinction to another happy Wednesday. I am currently teaching my 17 yr old to drive (in a manual car). Autos within his price range were just not ideal. I must say teaching my son in a manual as an IAM Observer, has been interesting, and i’ve enjoyed driving a manual again. There is still too many manual cars out there for young ones to dismiss them yet.

Hi All, glad to have Pete & the Mid Week 180 back!! Thanks for the Anniversary shout out too! Looks like you had fun though Pete ๐Ÿ˜‰look forward to the next garage update! Max was definitely in the wrong in Austria, simply too aggressive in his defending so it was only ever gonna end up as an accident, someone could have been injured, it’s a shame he managed to carry on & still get points when poor Lando, who’d driven brilliantly, got nothing … How is that fair?
I have no choice but to drive an Auto after a motorbike accident left me as an amputee but I would love a manual if I could, however the choice of autos in recent years has improved so much that the manual is slowly becoming extinct ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ

Max 100% at fault, as usual.
Enthusiasts like manual but not all buyers are Enthusiasts. Autos are so good these days that a majority of people are attracted to them.

Hey Ped – my weekend cars (MX5 & 370Z Nismo) are both manual, but my run around is an auto as it’s just easier in traffic. If I was only able to have one car, it would definitely be a manual!

On roads like these over the Pyrenees, size doesn’t matter.

It’s manual all the way for me and has been fir the past 45 years. Have just come back from a week in Portugal, needed a small hire car, enter the fiat500 hybrid and guess what, a manual ! Happy days

Iโ€™m thinking Newey to go to Aston because of the new wind tunnel, but then I look at the driver line up and think differently

My cousins daughter works for Pro Drive and was part of the engineering team putting the manual box in the Aston.
She is understandably very proud of the car.

If Lando had done the same to Max Christian Horner would be screaming from the roof tops. Says it all!

find it hard to believe they are not building the new mini with a manual gearbox because of poor sales, think its more to do with saving on development costs !

Don’t know how you fit in Youtube with all the other stuff you do.. I struggle with Youtube alone, forget all the trips and manufacturer launches. Manual all the way for me but i’m sure it’s just force of habit. Had i grown up with paddles that’s surely what i’d want. Shame though…

The best takeaway from the Austrian GP was actually how 1) How Lando dealt with his DNF
    2) How Lando remained calm and level headed toward Max
I was really impressed with him and I hope he gets some more wins this year – Silverstone would be epic!!!

Most new performance cars worth buying no longer come in manual, that’s why !!!

    Perfect example:
    Audi Rs3 !
And cars that do come in manual have clutches made from chocolate !

I have been driving manual cars for 51 years and started with my Golf GTI (DSG) in April – no apologies but I love it!

I don’t get fatigued at all by having a manual on tour – I just love the interaction and will always want a manual.
