All New Toyota C-HR – A Concept Car for the Road ! | 4K

The all new C-HR is promoted as a concept for the road by . The 2nd generation Toyota C-HR as quite an act to follow after the success of the very first generation vehicle. The lastest Toyota C-HR will come as a 1.8 or 2.0 Hybrid, with a Plug-in Hybrid coming in 2024.

It has edgy looks, some innovative technology and Toyota's fifth generation hybrid drivetrain. I put it to the test by exploring Ibiza.

First impressions – cut and shunt paint job (hmmmm) weird choice of how to do 2 tone (which I normally like), rear space (noooo), silly pop-out door handles (uncomfortable and a bit rubbish), over all look (designed by a 7 year old, what is it with fussy asses on Japanese cars), PHEV (ahh if the range is decent (50 miles +), that’s good – a friend of mine has a hybrid Merc and has done c.80% on electric only over the past 3 years), choice of engines (seems good), TFT vs a mirror (put in the mirror since it is unlikely to break, I would option out), prices (gulp – a bit pricey), driving experience (I’ll trust you on that – quite good). One for the list possibly. I can see them selling loads of these.

Windows are waaay too small. Dark inside. Won’t help visibility.

Certainly enjoying some warm sunshine here in Florida 😎 Not looking forward to the U.K. weather when we go home next week…

The car certainly sports some bold styling, but I’m not convinced by the two tone colour scheme… Certainly not for me.

Love these – getting a dozen of these to replace the existing model for my staff on lease contracts.

Launching it in Ibiza, I’m slightly disappointed it doesn’t run on coke 🤣~ great overview of a sure contender in that sector.

Colour spec is similar to the Bugatti Chiron super sport I just saw on Goodwood post !! A little cheaper though …. have a great weekend all🍻🇨🇦👍🏻

Not liking the two tone paint , styling is an improvement but no decent rear leg room , but what kills it for me is the driving experience with that awful gearbox.

Great review, thanks, for anyone wondering absolutely the reference to the 1.6 ‘Ford Cortia tribute’ CHR mentioned, there are none available only 1.8 or 2.0 😅

When I went to wales on a holiday a couple of years ago, our old Peugeot 3008 finally broke down on the road and it had to be scrapped, more than a couple hundred miles from home. My first exposure to this car was sitting in the cramped back seat while we drove the 6 hours back to London, not the best introduction I’ll admit 😂but whenever I sat in the front I enjoyed it!

You are the first reviewer to point out the fact that the engine noise bother only those who don’t understand how this system works 👍. The system is just brilliant and one of the main reasons I’m driving a C-HR

I always thought the first one was a bold design that I liked a lot. The CVT gearbox has always put me off as it would drive me nuts that it sounds like it is looking for a gear. On the new one I do like the twin paint like the sporty 206 and 306, the speed of the electric tailgate and the rear view camera system that I got accustomed to in about 5 mins in the Defender. I would need to see the new one in real life to see if I continue to like it but that is not to say your review was lacking and that was a very nice setting that you had to play with it in.

I love the way it looks but just couldn’t live with that CVT gearbox, it’s a shame 😢

It still Amazes me that car manufacturers are Still using Leather for the interiors of their automobiles, when they just as well can use fake leather, or Alcantara. Even vinyl is better than having to kill an animal just to cover the interior of an automobile! We are in the 21st Century, aren’t we?

Mahalo for actually explaining what difficulties can arise from using those mirror/rearview cams. I GET it now, cheers! That said, several friends of mine own the 1st-gen of this model, and they like them very much. I’ve ridden in one of these, too. At the turtle-like speeds the traffic flows here, it’s quiet and comfy in the back for this 175cm OAP, lol! Aloha!
