As a younger man I really wanted a Cupra because they were fast and not so common on the road. Since they have become a separate marque I like the styling and that particular example hits all the right notes but that price is just way wide of the mark.

Used to own the old Leon cupra 300 and I really liked it but what spoilt it for me was the axle tramp and the ridiculously over firm seats, was pleased to see you cover both of these with this latest version as they were in the back of my mind!

Sounds like they may have somewhat addressed the axle tramp issue of the old car, but (as nice as those seats look) I know they’d grind on me on longer journeys as my car did if they’re using really firm sponges again🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The price though is quite frankly ridiculous at that level – just bonkers!

Would like to drive it to compare it to the old model!

Love them, my first car was a Leon Mk1. In fact, I wish I had one of these Seat Leon Supercopa Mk1, (one make) race cars. What an ideal tracktool it would be.

I’m thinking of buying the previous shape in vz1 245ps form yes I agree the ride is firm with fixed suspension and the one I road tested was on 18s but I did like it

£52k for unreliable VW parts bin contraption – and people had a nerve to get butt hurt about the 50k Honda charged for the last 11G Civic Type-R, which is a FAR better car than this Seat.

As you said, it doesnt feel special – why? Because it simply ISNT special – and no faux sound in the cabin will make up for how poor this car is – the residuals will be awful too. Agree about the paint job, and thats about it. This is a complete nothingburger of a car.

I still ❤ my Seat Leon Cupra (5F) DSG ! Yes, back then it was a Seat. And still a timeless aggressive, more angular design. And with my aftermarket 19″ flow forged rims, around 1300 KG. Pocket rocket on B-roads

I have loved these since the Cupra re-launch. Could be my replacement for my Stage 1 tuned Octavia vRS.

Nice motor Pete. Love the stealthy look. I would spend the same money on a second hand M2 with a third pedal 😃

Had one of these last year and had it stolen in a burglary 1 month after I bought it. Was such a capable car, absolute blast to drive whether it to be work or on down a B-road. But 50+ grand is too much get a second hand one

Years ago having a Cupra meant you got lots of the options of the VW and Audi variants spec as standard and at a lower price than those other cars…now Cupras are just as much..if not more. Lovely car none the less and good to see the brand come such a long way

Evening Ped, nice but £50k is outrageous. Hope the build quality has improved, my then year old ‘63 Leon leaked like a sieve around the boot rubbers. Haven’t bought a Seat since!

I have the Cupra Formentor VZ2 with 310 bhp, it’s a great car, I may change next year for possibly another Formentor with 333 bhp or the BMW M135 but I’ll definitely be looking at this car.
Just had a look on A T and assuming it’s the same VZ3 car they’re priced used for £32k ish for a 2025 plate in gloss and panoramic roof.

Hello Peter.A really good car then and neatly set up…I would never buy satin but the PPF version I can understand. A cousin has a far more basic version but does huge mileage in it and never has a problem. The Golf for the Thinking Driver!! P.S. I’m recovered officially by the doc tonight….I thought I was ruined..this Winter Influenza is a monster…BE WARY!!! 😃😃😃😃😃R

Thanks Pete, I will always have a soft spot for the Leon Cupra. I got one in 2002 and kept it for 13 years and loved it.The RRP was £15k!

Brilliant video Pete, I’ve always thought the Leon even in its more basic form to be the thinking man’s Golf. The Golf in no matter what the spec and I include the performance versions in this are just plain boring to look at and all you’re paying for is the badge really but this looks far better than any Golf when it’s a Golf in disguise.

Great Video! The Cupra Leon looks unbelievable but the price point is challenging. I have an 8.5 Golf GTI clubsport on a 75 plate and came in at 43k on the road price. The problem it’s got is that you can get a used RS3, M2, M3, New golf R.
