281hp Vauxhall Mokka GSE – £35k Hot Hatch is Impressive BUT Flawed !

Back in the 1980's Vauxhall were understand for producing brilliant hot hatches and they wore the GSE badge. Who remembers the Nova and Astra GSE? That badge progressed into GSi and then into VXR when it concerned sporty variations of Vauxhall's automobiles. It then died.

Well it's back and the first vehicle to use the brand-new GSE badge is the Mokka GSE. I flew to Spain the drive it on some amazing roads and an excellent race course!

That’s right, the GSE was an Opel badge on the Manta and Monza, there was never a Vauxhall GSE, it was GTE and later GSi…

Peak Vauxhall for me was the Astra mk2 gte 16v..
    Owned 2 in the day
Engine was a peach , chassis not so
After that they kind of lost its way
This latest moka defo looks a nice thing …
Pete mk1 and mk2 were gte that changed to gsi in mk3 guise

great review but the car looks hideous if we remember what hot hatches use to look like.

The rally Vauxhall sounded unbelievably stupid
Whoever thought that was good or wanted, missed the point.

Actually it’s super important for spectator safety so people can hear the car coming 👍

Strange to see a lefthand drive Vauxhall. I don’t think I saw that before. Mostly Opels are the lefthand drive ones and Vauxhalls are the righthand drive ones. I assume they rebadged an Opel for the Vauxhall tests.

It was an Opel. They put Vauxhall badges on them just for the British Journalist rotation 😜👍

Anyway, a Mokka GSE (or any other Mokka) is not a hot hatch! Its a fast small SUV of course.

seats look comfy, vauxhall always did have good seats, but im afraid i have to agree with a few of the comments though peter, GTE astra and corsa then GSi….never a GSE on those old things

Brilliant video Pedro. Going to be honest I’ve never been a fan of Vauxhalls, however this does look to be a very good car and impressive value for money. Bet you enjoyed getting a bit of winter sun.

GTE not the GSE.Pete. I had both the cavalier 130 mk1 Astra GTE and a Vectra VXR Estate and loved them all. My nick name became Vauxhall

That was interesting, particularly as this car undercuts the mechanically similar top version of the Abarth 600e by £3K, according to Diesel and Eco Car Magazine’s price lists.
