    I like this and being a kid of the early 90’s I remember the Vauxhall SRi, GSi and GSE’s of the day, for me the styling of this is just a little too subtle to be wearing the GSE badge. I think they should have done this with a proper hatch back and not the SUV/crossover. Probably would have been better with the Astra e or the Corsa e.

    I remember when the Astra GTE 16V was launched in the late 1980’s with 150 bhp going to the front wheels only. *_ALL_* of the acclaimed car magazines were saying back then that, “…150 bhp to the front wheels is about the maximum any front wheel drive car would be able to handle.”
    How times have changed. But good to see that Vauxhall still can’t negate the torque steer of a front wheel driven car with the Mokka’s extra 120 bhp to deal with. 😅🤣😂

    A story this morning in the Economist is about why electric super and hyper cars are not selling. It cites a 43% fall in sales of the Porsche Taycan at the “affordable” (£100k) end of supercar, though clearly not a hypercar. Part of the reason it gives is the comparatively humble EVs and certainly something for less than £60k can do most of what a hyper car can do in terms of performance and handling. At sub £40k this Vauxhall takes that argument to a further lower entry level. As Tom identifies it is still a Vauxhall and probably does not quite make it with the image conscious youf while making the oldie feel slightly ridiculous. But it is a lot of car for the money.

      Performance in a straight line, yes. Handling. No, this any most cars will not compete with the handling of a Porsche.

    Those huge heavy wheels and 40 profile tyres are going to hit range hard and be very noisy and crashy on UK roads. 18″wheels would probably work much better and look fine. What the Mokka does show that there is hope still for fun to drive small fast EVs just needs much better battery tech to give better range without more weight

    Having grown up through the years of “hot hatch Vauxhalls” this Mokka has to be the dullest looking hot hatch that I have seen in my life. However, if your plan is a “sleeper” then this might be fun! For sure it will be far better to drive than the shockingly poor MG4 X-Power with it’s fake large brake caliper covers.

    Its aimed at me, a pensioner/boomer with life still left in the old dog! Range never an issue as my bladder needs emptying every hour anyway on a long journey

      It’s also aimed at me, a Millenial with two young kids that wants a sporty leasing EV for my daily commute and still loves to drive his M3 Touring on weekends and vacation.

    Great idea. I mean EVs just aren’t really that fast enough & most people don’t consider range an issue, so don’t worry if anything knocks that down. Then there’s price, I mean they’re virtually giving cars away these days so a bit extra on top, no-one will complain.
    Yeah should fly off the forecourt 🤦 No wonder companies are struggling, totally misreading the market. Now if they’d done a Nova & aimed for under 15k……

      Under £15k new? – that ship sailed 15 years ago!
      The only way to get close to £15k now is the Dacia Spring, which has much less range and 65bhp

      ​​@SDK2006b Well you just said it didn’t you, despite saying that they don’t exist 🤦 Leap TO3 is soon going to drop under BYD will get closer too. New car from Dacia will undercut the Spring & more will roll in from China & claim a market that’s been left wide open to them. Still keep denying that they’ll do it, or claim ‘that market’s gone’, only thing gone in several years time is lots of huge car brands that didn’t want to see it.

    Was really hoping to see Opel making first GSE as a Corsa proper small hothatch 🤟🤟⚡🤩

    Like some of the other comments, it’s still a Stelantis and a bit meh. Hard to tell the difference from the normal Mokka except for the front brake calipers. Personally I prefer understated unless it’s something like a Ferrari which should shout out its special.

    I’m confused why we keep getting SUVs foisted on us, I can’t believe you called it a hatchback. it would make more sense if they did a corsa gse, but even the corsa is getting quite a heft to it these days.

      Because the new Astra and Corsa are not out till next year. Which will have GSE versions. The current lineup are not compatible with the motors etc needed.

    Brings back memories of my 1989 Astra GTE. Loved the car but times have changed and I do wonder how a car like that would fit in todays car world. But bringing back the GSE/GTi/GTE type badges is a great call especially updating the sportiness.

    Not bad but still a mokka, thought Vauxhall should have bought out the corsa gse first, after Peugeot released the 208gte just recentl. The government just made selling EV’s very difficult for manufacturers & private buyers to buy by introducing pay per mile & congestion charge. Thought it was all about net zero, but it’s about money not pollution. Basically the mokka is the Alfa junior as all the parts a from the same parts bin. Alfa looks better but both too expensive at £36,500 plus. Good review.

    I’m sorry but I already have a small, overpriced, slightly upmarket hatch with great handling, nice interior and miserable range. It’s called a Honda e and it does bring a smile to your face, everytime (except on long journeys with few chargers). If Opel/Vauxhall wants to sell me a Mokka they can skip the suspension gadgets and ludicrously thin tires, add some more range and cap the horsepower to a more than sufficient 200 bhp. By all means, keep the GSE seats.

    For those asking about a GSE Corsa and Astra. New versions of them are coming out next year (2026), with GSE models planned.
