UK ROAD TEST: MG Cyberster: a true sports car worthy of the badge? | Electrifying

#mgcyberster # #electriccars

Read the evaluation:

The very first modern-day automobile for mass production was an open-top, with the . But, almost 20 years after the Roadster's launching, the E generation has clearly lost interest in open cars. Due to the fact that, even though the producers are flooding brand-new electrical cars onto the road across all sectors from small cars to luxury saloons, convertibles are significantly missing.

That's all about to change, though. While Tesla is (as always) late with the revival of the Roadster, the electrical Mini Cabrio is still a long way away, the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore in another cost league altogether, and the Fiat 500 possibly not open-air enough for some sun-seekers, is here to plug the gap in the market.

The is lastly in series production, is already on sale in China and client deliveries will begin in the UK by the end of this summertime. We had a drive out in China, ahead of some proper time with the automobile in the UK.

However, the Chinese simulate to be the centre of attention, and the Cyberster is all about that. After all, the MG designers didn't decrease the retro-style path, however rather created an incredibly modern two-seater that makes more of a show than numerous super cars. With powered, butterfly doors that swing up at the push of a button, and with details like the taillights that flare like fiery red arrows – not to discuss an extrovert rear diffuser that assists to keep the automobile drew onto the roadway– it's quite a 'take a look at me' car.

The Cyberster is used in 2 variations. The 'fundamental' variation is called the MG Cyberster Trophy, and is powered by a 335bhp motor, which powers the rear-wheels for a 0 to 62mph in 5.0 seconds. If that does not sound sporting enough, the dual motor, all-wheel drive MG Cyberster GT gets 503bhp and will run to 62mph in simply 3.2 seconds.

MG Cyberster is a cracking car

The Cyberster is probably the only post-2023 car I would ever consider to replace my 2016 BMW 2-series convertible.

Same, though the boot space is a *lot* less than we’ve got and need, especially having no rear seats to use as storage too. Looks like I still need to wait a bit for another convertible/coupe.

I love the car, however for 60 grand I would expect 800v technology with at least 250kw of DC and 11kw AC is the bare minimum… It is a shame, because the car looks actually amazing.

It would be a killer if they did bring out a smaller one too!

Looks like MG have nailed it. It’s giving off F-Type vibes for me, which is no bad thing. And who doesn’t love gull wing doors for an extra piece of theatre. Enjoyed your review as always Ginny, many thanks.

Good review! I think its great and a real successor to MG’s history. What looks even better however, and adds a healthy dose of practicality is GTS Coupe they just revealed. MG have really got ahead of the competition!
At completely the orher end of the range, i recently got the new MG3 HYBRID as my daily car, and afterxalmost 3 months remain hugely impressed with the value for money. One thing though, MG UK need to up their game in terms of Customer Service. At the budget end of the market a hopeless lack of knowledge about the product is one thing, but as you move upmarket the customers will expect more!
I think it was at the Geneva Motor show, they displayed a so far only Chinese market saloon (sold in China possibly as an im), badged as an MG9. It looked fantastic as a sort of four door coupe, and as competition to a Porsche Taycan so refreshingly different. Along with the Cyberster Roadster and Coupe, that could really establish the MG Brand amongst the usual premium German brands in the UK and Europe, afterall for people of my age (59) the name MG has real heritage, which could easily be spread to include thevyounger generation. All that said MG UK (I dont know how things are in Europe), will have to be more mindful of a more demanding customer base.

I’ve never been a fan a rag tops, but this is stunning. Well done the design team and MG.

I love the review and the car looks brilliant. I’m on the fence for those doors though, they look super cool but that extra weight, complexity and cost to make may be add a tad too much to the asking price.

I knew those roads within 3 seconds of the video staring. Lovely location for quiet roads. A bit worried about you leaving Manos in the bushes.

Maybe the British Government could have saved one of the former British marques. Big shame, cant shame China for giving subsidies ๐Ÿ˜‚

I think MG has nailed it and letting the British engineers loose with it was the best call for their 100th anniversary. Although I think they missed a trick not calling it the MGe. I owned the MG F and then an MGTF and although far from perfect I fell in love with both of them, can’t wait to see this in the metal and get a test drive.

High five to MG. On November 16, 2017, E’loon said “People asked us ‘when are you going to make a new roadster?’ We are making it NOW.” Whooooops. MG has beat them to the punch BIG time.

Looks good, only two improvements Iโ€™d really like. A badge delete of that name (or just keep the C from the name), and replacement rear indicators for the embarrassing arrows

Hallelujah! Finally! A convertible electric car instead of yet ANOTHER bland, suv type thing. Kudos to MG for being bold and being the first.

It is fab and I don’t normally like red but it is lovely. When you were complaining about the boot I thought you sounded like Clarkson. Then you mentioned the golf clubs….

The steering wheel blocking the screens would annoy me, moving your head around just to see sat nav and music. They scrapped the E-Motion for this ๐Ÿ™
