      @@lindtrading2 The smart looks better in other colours, they do a nice red and an electric blue that look OK, but yes, they are not the best designs out there. A Kia EV3 is a similar price and if i wanted space, I’d be going for that I think.

      EV3 is fugly. The liberal use of piano black exterior trim and wheel arches is criminal. The amount of scratches it will accumulate after a few car washes.

    I love the way you casually mention the screen prices for both over £40k. WHAT??!!! These cars represent the enormous gulf between customer bank accounts and car companies today. An utter disgrace

      MSRP is kind of irrelevant as most people are leasing from new. If you simply must buy then mini will sell you an aceman with 10 miles on the clock for £29k.

    That’s a normal Aceman SE with Sport Trim, not a John Cooper Works Aceman. The lattter would have a boost button and said horsepower. The one tested has 218 bhp.

      @wleng

      I just came to the comment to say the same thing. I love this channel but this is a big error. The “real” JCW model with 258bhp will drive very differently I suspect, as the suspension will also be tuned specifically for JCW. With the boost button activated, the JCW will have another 27bhp for 10s!

      Smart is basically a Chinese car with a European badge. Of course it would be a lot better, than a Mini. Especially for the same price.

    I’m biased I have the Smart #1 dual motor AWD Brabus 😮 428 HP. But seriously the Smart is the winner in every department. Price, Range, Charging speed, Power, Space and Equipment most of which wasn’t mentioned in this review.

    Had a steady diet of Smarts in the last 20 years, before my Peugeot E208. May now put the 5-seat Smart back on the list, but wouldn’t look twice at the Mini: Sorry Nicki! Had my fill of Mini’s over the years… They were the `two plus two` of my yoof. I’m nearly at retirement age now…

    I honestly don’t understand why anyone buys a Mini. Once upon a time, a Mini, as original conceived was budget motoring and value. Their compromises were seen as virtues when price was a factor. These days Mini means is sold to people with more money than sense – a crappy car commanding a premium price just because it has a round screen or some other gimmick.
