    A great EV for large families, carpoolers, shuttles, soccer moms. With only two ol’ duffers in our household, we do not need something so large… unless they came out with a true “camper” version, in which case I’d trade in our Ioniq 5 for one.

    EVs are tech heavy, like most cars now, and arguably the tech is one of the top things we look for in cars now.

    I keep noticing key tech details missing from your videos that are contextually important from video to video.

    In this one for example, it’s a family car and you’re highlighting the numerous USB charging ports. Why not mention that they’re 100W? (At least that one in the back was).
    That’s HUGE if you’re say, in the need to charge a laptop or even camping and needing to charge one of those huge portable battery stations.

    It’s the little things 💁🏻‍♂️

      That can be applied to a number of types of vehicles. What use is a two seater sports car to a family of three. What use is a Fiat 500 to a family of five. What use are supercars, costing a fortune, to the vast majority of people?

      Yep but i’d rather see a smaller car with one person in it rather than a beast like this that more often than not had only one person in it. In all the years of cars on the road we suddenly need bigger cars when families are getting smaller. How often do you see one of these Chelsea tractors full?

    Any comparison test of this car needs to include a parking challenge in a tight multi storey car park. It’s nearly 2m wide and over 5m long, getting through the barriers, up the ramps and into a space between the columns will be difficult

      I regularly drive a LWB Vivaro-e, which is bigger, and honestly it’s a doddle to park even in relatively tight car parks. The biggest issue is the length and sticking out of bays

      I was parked in a multi-storey car park last week , when I returned to my car there was a new looking Bentley Bentayga parked next to me . Was surprised to see such an expensive car in a very tight car park . Not sure of the size but it looked massive next to my Mini Cooper S 😂

    A couple nit picks I have with it is for a 110kwh battery size charging at 233kw it sounds like they went with 400v charging architecture and not 800v. If so then that’s a let down given the size of this vehicle and the battery size. I guess if it can hold a peak charge deep into the pack beyond 20, 30 40% then that could be good.

    I think it’s going to come down to price. I’m here in the US and we have large expanse of roads so struggle to find anything on on the market in this style at the moment that can compete with or dethrone the Lucid Gravity. It’s boasting an EPA range of up to 450 miles. And this Ionic 9 on a WLTP of 385 calculates to roughly 330 miles of range. And at 80% charge that works out to roughly 265 miles EPA. Whereas the Lucid Gravity at 80% gives you 360 miles of charge and is probably way more efficient.

    Let’s also add the GMC Yukon Denali EV and Cadillac Escalade EV to the mix. Each of them with their massive batteries getting 460 miles on a full charge.

    All in all this is a very nice addition to the big road trip warriors out there, especially for the American market where we have vast distances and a charging network that’s just beginning to be more ubiquitous.

    80K! always wondered what happens when you try to claim on battery warranty at near end of cover do you just get a new battery at zero cost or do you have fight for it and then have to pay a “contribution”. at what point to you get a replacement?

      You get an “in-spec” battery, whether that’s new or a re-manufactured one, but the warranty doesn’t get extended. Essentially the same as any warranty replacement part on any car – manufacturer’s discretion. Not sure why you’d think you’d need to pay a “contribution” for a warranty replacement part though.

      Note of course that your chance of needing a warranty replacement battery is vanishingly small.

    My old Fiat Multipla had six full size seats in a car that was shorter than a VW Golf. Fiat needs to make a modern EV reinterpretation.

    Nikki makes a great case for this as a family bus. It will be a nightmare in my local rural public car parks let alone any sort of urban multi story car park. At around £80k as reviewed it really does not do off road or serious towing. Compare this with the EV Range Rover previewed this week which does it all for about £130k and it looks a bit feeble. JLR should be able to take its tech into lesser spec models in the range in which case there will be something at around the £80k this thing costs, and I would rather have that. If children are a problem strap them somewhere on the roof or back and leave the back seats for the dogs, because they are worth it.

    I will never need a car this size but if I did, this would be my choice. Its interesting to me that so many euro brands absolutely rob their customers for the pleasure of having an extra USB port or a cup holder whereas Kia and Hyundai evidently care about what people want and give it to them. No wonder they are such appealing car. This is not only a great looking car, it delivers in just about every area. Truly impressive.

    Curious – with all the individual pixel lights, how easy would it be to replace “one”? Or is it necessary to replace a group? How many front or rear pixels need to fail before it fails inspection?
