It would look much better with all Silver wheels…. Then they would be more of style throwback.

Whilst it is basically a Corsa GSE, it does look better than the Vauxhall.

Definitely a test of the A290 and GSE…. The mini is a different thing and Chinese.

@Mac-65 Golf is a class higher and an electric Golf GTI is only an idea in the making, not a real car yet.

Some stars must’ve aligned, This video wasn’t 10 minutes up when I started just randomly looking for new 208 vids. Looks like a descent car. Proper brand, wide tires, 4 (i think) pot calipers front, a lot of power. Two things, I’d change is make it a 3 door and ditch rear seats.

Yup, with the same size battery as the normal 208, it really is mostly a descent car. Like a Rolls Canardly. Rolls down the hill, canardly get up it.

I think Peugeot have done a good job with this, it sticks pretty closely to the original GTi formula and looks really good. I’m happy another small(ish) quick hatch exists and I would love one, but like the Alpine, the range isn’t enough for me. I hope that battery energy density and efficiency increases to give cars like this a genuine 250-300 miles, that would be awesome.

I would love it if new model designs were smaller (NOT LARGER) than their predecessor.

It’s impossible as modern cars have a lot more safety equipment than cars from 40 years ago. Unless you’re paying well into 6 figures for something made out of carbon and titanium. Even then, batteries are heavy. There’s no getting around it.

I had an original 208 GTi back in 2014 and absolutely loved it; I think this looks great and 278 bhp in a super mini is incredible

      208 GTI is a modern car. I had a 205 GTI 1.9 back in 1994.

@unclelep482 The 205 GTI was – and is – an awesome car. Would have one any day, much better and an icon over this EV version.

Spent two years renovating a 1.6 Gti…spent a fortune getting it to factory spec and as new…Modern cars are all bigger more power faster etc etc….but the 205 just makes you smile when you’re on the twisty roads…no electric anything and youre not necessarily going that fast…but it feels alive and remains amazing to drive….and the attention it attracts is crazy…I can’t stop anywhere without folks asking about it….and that is what you’re referring to here…thats the ‘icon’ bit….it’s fantastic…they can keep the leccy version thanks!

I’m very happy to keep my 308 GTi for now but this is something I’d definitely be keen on. Best wait for a second hand one to become available with some depreciation to take the sting out haha. Great review though 👍🤘

Much better review than that of Electrifying as you mentioned all the main most important points. Very disappointing after 6 years of this model being available. Basically the identical cabin, still has sub par charge speeds, they have still not sorted the brake pedal dead travel (we owned a e-208 GT for 4 years) and the battery efficiency and range are still rubbish. App will still be rubbish also I am sure. People are complaining about the Chinese brands taking over. They will do so without even trying very hard. Worth remembering that Peugeot announced this exact car at Le Mans LAST year (2025). Then it all went quiet. Then they have done the same thing this year- Le Mans 2026!?. And then there will be a brand new e-208 coming out next year, which I hope will have a better cabin, better battery etc. All a bit odd.

That’s the Clyde in the background…That actually looks really nice. I like we are getting back to pocket rockets and not just huge SUV’s. Such a shame VW Golf couldn’t do a retro mk1 lookalike EV…..😮 I’d be saying take my money…. But well played a hot pug what’s not to like. I love the car gripes the original GTi crumple zone was your face and it was tinny as but absolutely brilliant.

Still needs next generation batteries so it gets a solid real world 300 mile range no matter how you drive but other than that.
