    Welcome back one of the better presenters. God knows how those 2 new ones got a video the other day

      If you mean the KGM video, that was one of our promoted pieces of content rather than an editorial review. The presenters for that were external rather than members of the What Car? team.

      Maybe set some standards for paid pieces going forward. We all have bills to pay but that seems somewhat damaging to your brand quality

    That logo is different than the MG logos in use, I guess they are doing this to separate it from the other MG’s that look more mainstream, while this looks sporty and luxurious.

      I think it’s because IM is a separate brand in China and was just put into MG here, because MG is a known brand already.

      @thedaveaftertomorrow

      That’s the marketing line, the truth is it’s a separate brand internationally and it would cost the group too much to rebadge it properly for the UK alone

    Is it the im6 thats the ” suv” ?
    If so it would be the one (£4k more expensive) for me.
    The rear floor to seat bench height looks a deal breaker for plenty.

    I know it’s smaller but the long range is only £600 less than the new Mercedes CLA 250+ which has more range (as does the upcoming model 3’s new battery). The CLA is also 800v, slightly lower peak rate but I’d think the 10-80% charging curve won’t be more than a couple minutes slower. I think I prefer the CLA of the three IM L5, CLA and Model 3

    1. @BenBenTalks Avatar
      @BenBenTalks

      That price you are quoting is the bog standard which doesn’t include all the standard options that all these other cars do!! Add those options and it will be considerably more expensive!

      The CLA ev will be a far better car minus the power Mercedes build great cars ( in general German cars are just built better ) that said your paying a premium for them MG while improving it not even in the same class as Mercedes the Chinese can copy cars make them cheaper and faster but still can’t copy the quality of the old school car companies!!

    An electronic switch to open the door from the inside? This trend needs to stop and ideally be banned if it relies on a power supply for obvious means of escape

    1. @whatcar Avatar
      @whatcar

      All vehicles with electric (button) door releases do have a physical override release in the front doors that can be relied upon in an emergency.

    The competitor is Xpeng P7i. This car has the lowest floor of all sedans. Porsche did the suspension and it drives fantastic. The key benefit is the fact that Xpeng are a very active software development company.

      Tesla measures full boot capacity while most other manufacturers measure until the parcel shelf line (sorry forgot the correct name).
      Tesla also seems to measure with more flexible measurements why other manufacturers usually use rigid cubes.

      This leads to BS like the Tesla model Y supposedly having a larger trunk than a XC90…
      Having driven both it’s utter BS, the xc90 has waaay more space in the back.
