The feature of dragging three fingers to change something like the temperature and fan speed is really good thinking from BYD. Surprised its not a popular idea

It essentially turns the entire screen into adjustment controls for air con. Safer than touch screen only, obviously, but also safer than traditional buttons as you’re less likely (almost impossible) to miss the giant button that is the screen. Not to mention the voice controls.

Had the three finger tap for years on my Peugeot e208 to take you to the Home Screen. Not sure I’d want to use it to drag functions though.

Can’t believe how expensive they are in the UK.
In NZ you can get an extended range Atto 3 for 48K NZD which is less than 22 000 quid

Because in NZ we are a ute or ‘pick up’ mad country just like Australia, the BYD phev ute has hit the ground running this year. It has a lot of benefits for the people that are not ‘too off road’ mad, like most of us actually, It can tow 2.5 tons which even though I own a Wildtrak, I have never towed more than that, my boat is about 2 tons. The Shark also has the benefit of about 80km of pure ev driving which is very appealing to a lot of punters down under, especially when you have 3 x 240v outlets in the tray.

“BYD” is the pinyin initials of the company’s Chinese name Biyadi. The company was originally known as Yadi Electronics (亚迪电子), named after the Yadi Road in Dapeng New District, where the company was once based. According to Wang Chuanfu, when the company was registered, the character “Bi” (比) was added to the name to prevent duplication, and to provide the company with an alphabetical advantage in trade shows. As the name “BYD” had no particular meaning, BYD started adopting a backronymic slogan “Build Your Dreams” when it participated at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in the US.

So just to recap the range is cira 200 miles.

charging from 10%-80% in around 40mins. That’s assuming you use 70% of the battery. Lets say its the middle of winter so the range is down 20% due to the temp.
    200miles –> 20% loss due to winter –> 160miles –> using 70% on a trip –> that’s 112 miles!

So, if you did drive this car long distances you’d be expected to stop for 40mins every 112 miles :(.

If you drove at 70mph that means for every 1.5 hours of driving your stopping for 40 mins.

This car is only really usable for city driving.
