      Stalantis acquired Leapmotor, making Leapmotor’s cars more expensive than other Chinese brands..

    Nicola, you didn’t mean rare earth metals in NMC batteries did you? You meant exotic minerals like cobalt and nickel, both of which are expensive, and cobalt comes with poor mining practices stigma too.
    That’s what you meant I’m sure.

    I gather you can customise a steering wheel button now to turn off all (or most) of the ADAS stuff (you can now on the C10 so I’d think you’d be able to on this too).

    Slight error in that, no, NMC batteries don’t deliver more milage per kWh, they deliver more kWh per kilogram of battery. I’m somewhat surprised so many car reviewers get this wrong. And LFP or NMC batteries with the same kWh capacity will go the same distance in the same car. Also, none of them have rare earths. NMC stands for nickel, manganese, cobalt, and it also has lithium. Neither of them are rare, maybe laborious to mine, but not rare. With LFP we have lithium, iron, and phosphate, same thing, not rare at all.

    1. @winfriedtheis5767 Avatar
      @winfriedtheis5767

      Thanks! I wanted to make the same point, particularly the rare earth error. Lithium, Nickel, Manganese are *critical* minerals, i.e. they are not as plentiful as iron or sodium and are not processed everywhere…

      they want let facts get in the way of the over excited best ev yet routine.

    3. @fernandomustachioso Avatar
      @fernandomustachioso

      From what I understand: LFP batteries are generally slightly more safe and longer lasting also. This entire segment was not something an electric car specialized channel should put out. I generally really like Nicola though.

    4. @RaduDavidescu_Bucharest Avatar
      @RaduDavidescu_Bucharest

      on top of that, for LFP is relevant charging time up to 100% because on LFP it’s not that risky to charge up to 100% but producers don’t like to say 80-100% because is slow. however, in cold whater especially you want high SoC because LFP lost voltage and it’s way more sensible to cold. More reliability in time. As a rule of thumb, northen countries – NMC and heat pump, southen countries like Italy, Spain, Grece, LFP might be a way better choice. 60+ kWh it’s a decent size

    5. @rlinkandroidauto-xe9sg Avatar
      @rlinkandroidauto-xe9sg

      Thought LFP is also safer to charge up to 100%, without worrying as much about battery degradation.

    The indicator thing is for the roadside. Giving people (drivers/cyclists) the thought that you might pull out, is safer as it should cause them to slow down and pay attention. This might come to all cars eventually

    Dear Nicola, Now that we know how tall you are in centimetres, it would also be nice to know how many kWh you spend driving 100 kms and how far in kilometres you can drive 😊! Best regards from a European viewer who enjoys your shows

    LFP battery you can charge it easily every time to 100% and NMC tot 85%….

    Just buy the facelift version of it, hopefully all annoying things are going away. We are not blind and stupid! 😂 And give us proper flappy regen pedals.

    For the low price can get any better! Facelift!!!

    Just to clarify only the international portion of Leapmotors is under Stellantis with their 51% stake. For the largest part of their business in China Stellantis only has a 20% stake. Similar to how Geely owns 10% of Mercedes. But they each own 1/2 of Smart. Point being Stellantis has had no input into the development of Leapmotor architectures. Much like Geely has had no out on Mercedes architectures.

    Note to all car reviewers: The window switches work as they should! Forward for down, backward for up! It’s the same as always, it’s just vertical now! Get over it!
