Is the technology being developed, not only to put a large battery in the floor of a caravan which could be hooked up in series with the car’s battery, but also to turn the roof of a caravan into a large solar panel, which could charge up that battery?

Wouldn’t the ID7 be in the same category as the BMW i4?

That Nikola drives a GV60 piques my interest. I’ve been considering an Ioniq 5 for my next EV, but maybe its sibling GV60 would be worth the extra price —and features.

Thankyou!! I had a Tesla Model Y booked at Sixt Munich Airport and got upsold – so the EQS cost me more but was very very nice. Stress levels at getting out of the multi-storey car park for the first time driving on the left were pretty high. The industrial level hire car returns area was amazing – it had a man with a flag and everything!

And minor correction – it was the Audi Sport track at Neuburg an der Donau near Ingolstadt, not Nürburgring. (Thanks though – electric cars can be fun and nice).

Postbag comment cracks me up – what happens if we send in a stamped, addressed envelope ?

Thinking about the whole caravan thing, would there be a way of building a caravan with an additional battery built into it that adds power to the car battery to give it the longer range using a v2l kind of tech from the caravan to the car

I guess weight is the issue. I believe they can’t be above a certain weight

Long term reviews are always useful. When I used to buy car magazines that was what I read first as I always thought they were better than first drives or comparisons of cars that the manufacturers had serviced before handing the keys over. It does make me wonder how I’d review the Soul after 22 months and 12,000 miles, perhaps I’ll write it up for fun and it can sit on my computer where no one will ever see it.

    I don’t get it…
Mike’s going on about an embargo on driving details etc for the new VW iD.7 – appreciating that this will have been recorded some days ago – yet, on the self-same day that you’ve uploaded this podcast, another channel has uploaded a full walk-around and in-depth driving review video…!! 🤔

A common source of 12V battery issues: owners not actually turning on their car, causing the lights and everything using the small battery, instead of the big battery.

Mike is right about how VW has got its act together on ID software, I have a 24 model year ID3 with version 3.5, it performs flawlessly without any lag.

Grrrr. You mentioned the Niro EV a couple of times but said zilch about it. I’ve just ordered one as my next Motability car and now I’m wondering if it’s just too boring for words, or has bongs that make you crazy? Also, half an hour isn’t long enough to last for a decent bath – you’re going to have to rename it the Kilowatt 45 minutes.
