question for the team: should every small car steal the sliding rear bench/seat idea that the EV2 has and I think the ICE T-Cross. Let us all choose legroom vs boot space for different needs

Answer from the crowd: Equivocally yes, also the low load lip from the Renault 4. If we aren’t allowed small estates any more, then at least let us have the practicality back.

I’ve bought a car 50cm longer than I think I should need, just because I need the boot space. I think the back seats get used for less than a few hours a year.

I think that the CEO of Stellantis is simply NOT doing his job properly. If he bothered to tear down a Tesla and look at their design in deep “Munro Detail”. He would then learn HOW BEVs can be designed and assembled whilst making a profit.
The Ford CEO has only just done exactly this (in 2026) and he has realised that Tesla’s assembly and design is entirely different (in every way) from the way Ford does it. He has “had his eyes opened” to new methods and realised the the old ways in making ICE are the reasons that profits are not being made on BEVs. I would bet my rear teeth that Stellantis are making the same errors as Ford!

I think Transport Evolved made a point about not having big tech companies feel so crucial to the car’s operation and making more space for open source. Concerns about surveillance be the one upside of getting a Megane E Tech in the Evolution spec without the integrated Google, for example

I think in future (definitely a way off yet) we will get to a place where open source or community software builds will become essential for older unsupported vehicles. I think manufacturers will be forced to allow this at end of life for vehicle software updates. A bit like what we have seen with Fisker after it collapsed.

@spacecadetrik21Yeah that with battery/BMS upgrading otherwise fine cars would be good. Certainly space to grow in the 3rd party space

Imagine a Rover SD1 reinvented as an EV must be more aerodynamic than an electric 2CV.

Why was I thinking you meant the DS rather than the 2CV? Silly me. Excellent point.

Have a Renault Meganne e-tech and below 0 degrees get about 2.8 miles per kW, 0-15 degrees getting 3.5 -4 miles per kW and 15+ degrees we get 4-5 miles per kW

Scottish Gov have always been ahead of the game. They started installing EV chargers in small towns and villages 14 years ago. Chargeplace Scotland reached around 3600 installations over the years.

The downside is that CPS has probably the worst service from all the charging providers. That app was a nightmare and the card never work properly. However things got much better once CPS became part of Electroverse

I don’t think the majority of people notice that different brands are on the same platform, it’s only car people who do. I remember Lotus Esprit having Austin Allegro door handles (and they actually looked cool at the time). 80s Ferrari had Fiat stalks. My Polestar 2 is very Volvo in places but that doesn’t bother me either. I think the Stellantis EVs are quite appealing but only make sense at the discounted prices. The E-208 still the nicest looking car they do in my opinion but I think they just feel slightly behind the pack. Nice to have another episode.

Nice to hear about the movement to better enable and support used EV drivers and those without a driveway. I am fortunate to have recently gone electric and have purchased a 2020 Mercedes-Benz EQC Edition 1886 – which was a steal compared to the new price. Very happy to be a small part of the EV switch.

I’m another viewer that drives an Equinox EV. They are very popular in Quebec. My 2024 Smurf Edition (blue w/white roof) has been the best car I ever owned. We’re looking for a smaller car as our 2nd EV. Eager to test drive the EV3 when it arrives in Canada.

I have a 500e that’s done 67000 miles in 4 years and love it! Tried the 600e and thought it a fine car, refined and comfortable but just misses the mark… Not by much but I think they’ve cost cut a bit too much. Renault also share parts but you don’t care because they’ve made all the cars desirable. Please tell Citroen to go retro! There is a lot to go for?!
