There’s nobody around who remembers the 2CV from the 40’s, even old dinosaurs like me remember it from the 70’s when it was the favourite hippymobile of those who considered themselves too cool for the VW Beetle, or from the 90’s when it performed the same function for their offspring.
It looks cute, the internet has gone crazy about it and many of the people who eventually buy the production model will have no idea of it’s history and care less.

I‘d love a short and throughout practical MPV from Europe.

I had a Multipla and absolutely loved it – 3 sitting across in the front as well as back, gear shift up on the dash, so really easy to enter and exit, lots of leg space, amazing visibility. Beauty is in the eye…..

It looks like the Paris has taken over from Geneva as the motor show where they unveil a lot of concepts, but missed having all the top end hyper cars.

Oooohhhh…. I would love a 2 door door electric Jeep that is CJ2A (Willeys, WW2 style) retro!! Yes please!!! Smaller than the Wrangler, and a lot more affordable. More city car than true off-roader. Like the Avenger, but 2 door and a bit smaller with rugged 4×4 looks.

I thought the Paris Motor Show was all about concept EV’s rather than actual EV’s for 2027, which sadly wasn’t for me. Loved the ElectrifyingDotCom Team’s reviews. I like EV’s to have the Practicality Vibe. Maybe I should change my username to MrPracticality😂.

Thank you to the team for the reviews at the Paris Motor Show, although there was a few ‘Lushes’ there. I know this has been mentioned before many times, but, I do think the podcast needs to change its name to Kilowatt Hour. I mean, you get a Kilowatt Per Hour in measurement terms and not a Kilowatt Per Half Hour.

Thank you Vikki and Batch for this week’s podcast.!

I am still waiting for the Peugeot E Legend concept car from several years ago to make production! Who would not like to have a retro 504 coupe?

That is the problem with show specials. These days you could almost 3d print them.

The funny thing about the Tesla marketing…

I think the Rocket exists so people think the Thrust or Performance model will ever be legal to use on real roads.

It is unclear that suction fans will ever be legal on normal roads.

I can understand the viewpoint of “too much retro”, but think it will help more people like me, who haven’t yet switched to electric to make the jump. It feels quite a big step to make, so a car that looks familiar provides some much needed reassurance. Hopefully it will encourage more uptake in electric, and I have recently booked a test drive in the new ID Polo.

Here in the US, the Chrysler PT Cruiser did well, and the Dodge Challenger has done stunningly well, having run for 17 years!

On the retro inspired design point. It tends to largely be the French, which actually is a testament to how many iconic cars they’ve produced. Porsche and VW for example never stopped selling 911s, Polo and Golf’s so they don’t have to reinterpret them. That’s one of the shortcomings of French cars, they’re always reinventing them by either model names or complete shifts in design which doesn’t allow for continuity. Why we didn’t have a continuous run of Citroen DS and 2CV is the real question…

I agree the retro concept ; I will love it temporarily and the love will not last long enough… Glad this point been raised by a very braved presenter. Try to think for yourself and avoid the crowd in the bandwagon. People will soon move over to a non retro and leave you alone with something between the leg!

I would love to go for one of the more ‘fun’ alternatives as a training car but some of these are not comfortable to sit in all day and their range isn’t enough to last a full day. Did take a Dacia Spring on a test drive for a weekend but it just wouldn’t have worked. Having said that, another driving instructor is using one.

20:11 You haven’t touched on the entry version having suction fans and skirt, like a 4-seater McMurty Speerling? 🤔 And I wouldn’t be surprised if the two other versions would have the cold gas thrusters GPS locked to large private properties, drag strips and race tracks.

Loving the podcasts, may they get longer. 🙂 I don’t know how they can call the new Tesla a Roadster as the roof section is not removable. I doubt the air jets or thrusters will be legal to use because of the amount the reduce visibility for other drivers even if for only a short while. Carl,

You hit the nail on the head batch, “conflicted”Love the retro but I’m starting to wonder if we are preventing the art of future classics by recycling deign and is this retro phase going to be out of fashion as quick as it went into fashion.

I now officially/finally have an EV of my own to love. I got a Kia EV6 AWD Wind (sadly without the tech package). I love it! The drive is comfortable but still feels a bit sporty when needed. Even without the tech pack, it has a great list of included features, goes like a bat out of hell, and I will never miss weekly gas station stops. Thank you to the Electrifying team for all the videos and reviews that helped me land on this model choice!

I wonder if Citroen will include the original wheezy sound effects on the new 2CV? When I lived in France in the early ’90s, we loved our shared 2CV and one of the reasons why we loved it was because of the noise the 602cc engine used to make.
