Volvo has actually revealed its most current saloon, the ES90 – and Ginny has taken a close browse. This brand-new model is poised to change the S90 in the brand's lineup, marking a considerable action in Volvo's electrification strategy. The ES90 boasts a remarkable WLTP series of approximately 435 miles, thanks to a 106kWh battery pack. This positions it competitively against competitors like the Mercedes EQS and Volkswagen ID.7. Its 800-volt electrical architecture allows ultra-rapid charging; at a 350kW charger, the ES90 can get 186 miles of in just 10 minutes.

    The ES90 got a beautiful exterior design. I also like the interior but the cockpit and tablet got way too much bezels. Should have slimmed that down.

    1. @Dawheel90 Avatar
      @Dawheel90

      Totally agree with you. The central tablet seems just to be attached to the dashboard, not at all integrated with the design in my humble opinion.

      @benjaminsmith2287

      @@Dawheel90 They can’t integrate it and keep the slim proportions of the dash. Better to have it float as it does. Integrated screens are better for smaller, specific functions.

    It sounds crazy, but I think I would rather buy a Chinese car over an American one at the moment.

      Not crazy at all…and I’m all for taking the high moral ground here.

      There is no American made car that is better than a Chinese made car.

      The Tesla’s made in China are better than the US made ones, apparently….

      12:19 When you said, not as much as you would think I thought oh, it’s going to start at 50k then.

      STARTS at 70k! It is nice but that’s a realistic monthly payment of £1.5k.

    Nice car, but considering Audi has just culled the SQ8, how many of these £70k plus behemoths are going to sell in this climate? I know they will 99% be company cars, but even then they aren’t going to sell many.

    Give me a wagon/estate with this platform and design, Volvo!

    1. @shroomyesc Avatar

      They’re not making one. The CEO stated at the reveal that Volvo won’t introduce any new estate cars, you get the hatch, and that’s it.

      @@timaustin2000 Honestly, I think this would look horrible as an estate. The EX90 looks like an estate, just a very tall one. But this greenhouse and high shoulders wouldn’t work so well on an estate IMO.

    I’ll just clarify at 10m 8secs, Ginny is saying you can fit a dog inside the boot, rather you can go Dogging in the boot… just in case you are from Essex and went searching for this feature on the options list…

      @pranavalajangi9371 Nothing Polestar 4 about it. That’s a reskinned Zeekr and it looks like one. This looks like a Polestar 2, just larger. The only thing Polestar 4 about this is the overall size but this is more upscale, like the Polestar 3 and Volvo EX90.

    Even if it can do trillions of calculations a second, if there was a simple button on the dash to just press when you’re driving to turn the heated seat on, you’d be able to do it in a fraction of the time it would take you to say the wake word, ask the question, and get the response from the car…

  13. @iridemountainbikes Avatar
    @iridemountainbikes

    Nice but looks too big for myself on UK roads, and no rear wiper again… would like to have seen physical buttons for the climate and I would prefer a physical button in the centre for audio/volume control.

    @JH-uu7jl

    I do wish it was a bit smaller but I’m not an SUV fan. The interior looks lovely and the safety features sound useful. The advantage of doing the work locally on those fast processors is that they don’t need to send your data back to Volvo. And the ability to tell the car what to do verbally and have it do it for you rather than finding the button is excellent. More of that please.

  17. @Zereniti77 Avatar
    @Zereniti77

    0:40 I think lower ground clearance makes it harder to get in an out of. That’s the benefit of MPVs and SUV when compared to normal cars. The seat is about 10cm higher so you basically just walk in and out, instead of having to drop down to the seat and then struggle to get up and out.

    EDIT: Oh, is the ES90 made in China or Europe?

    437 miles range, minus 20% cos that’s the Wltp figure, minus another 15% in winter gives you…….. 283 miles( in the depths of winter). I’m not complaining, my Polestar is like this. I just find it annoying that the presenters don’t make this clear.
