    If Nissan do NOT under cut the R5 then is will only sell a fraction of Renaults numbers. Which will not help with Nissan’s fight against bankruptcy.

    1. @GruffSillyGoat Avatar
      @GruffSillyGoat

      This is a Nissan-Renault Alliance car, basically Nissan Europe – as Renault own 43% of Nissan even if corporate Nissan go bump in Japan it’s likely Renault will take over the European (and other parts of the world) where they share manufacturing and models. DongFeng will likely take over the Chinese side of Nissan as well.

      @violetsteele350

      Nissan doesn’t have to do that depending on how well it does in the US and Canada. We in North America do not have Renault

    3. @GruffSillyGoat Avatar
      @GruffSillyGoat

      @@violetsteele350 – South American does have Renault, some of the manufacturing sites are shared with Nissan (two of which Nissan are closing their role on).

      With North America Nissan are clossing some plants. If they go bankrupt it remains to be seem who will buy their sites in North America, might be Mitsubishi (how is seeking to co-locate with Nissan at some sites) or possibly Toyota.

    As someone who adores every angle and detail of the R5 – so much so I’ve got one on order – I’m struggling to find anything I like here. Admittedly I’m not a fan of most of Nissan’s recent and current designs (it baffles me the Juke is so popular) but I think they could have done better here, especially if they want to compete with the car it’s got so much in common with. The chunkier SUV-ish styling makes it look bloated and Juke-ish, the headlights look Fiat-ish (though a bit like an RR Evoque-ish from the sides) and the rear is just a bit plain. The interior is a bit drab too, I get they’re probably not positioning this as a fun, retro, nostalgic car like the R5 is but something to break up all that black wouldn’t go amiss. It’s good that there are more small, “affordable” EVs coming and they’ve chosen a good one to use as the base, but are people going to be compelled to get this over the competition? According to another article I read Nissan intend to price this higher than the R5 as they view it as a premium alternative; we’ll see how long that idea lasts.

    My wife bought a second hand Micra from 2007, a K12 , 1.4 automatic. We’re still using it and driving it today and it really didn’t need much maintenance, a great car. The view from the driver’s seat is amazing, you can see all around.
    This car though is nothing like that one and it’s more of a facelift Renault 5. While everyone is excited about the 5 I personally wasn’t really impressed with it as it’s not that practical in the front and the back seats are just awful.

    After seeing the Inster my wife said that this is the new Micra and in a way I kinda understand what she means, it’s quirky, small but has loads of space and good visibility. We ended up ordering an Inster instead and yeah, after seething this Micra 5 no regrets.
