When we drove the E-308 at the start of 2024, we stated that it was good-looking, great to drive and a good all-rounder. We did suggest, nevertheless, that someone appeared to have gotten in the wrong price on a spreadsheet since it cost the like a Tesla Design 3.

That may describe why it's not a common sight. Or possibly that's because it looks the like the gas car and we simply don't discover it.

To solve this, the upgraded E-308 has some substantial changes consisting of a bolder look, enhanced efficiency and the introduction of Plug and Charge. Is that enough to raise the E-308 to the top of the class? Sign up with Nicola as she has a close take a look around the new model.

    I thought the “fang lights” was the best part of Peugeot designs. Now they are getting more and more generic. 👎👎👎

    Stellantis are just not updating their BEV technology. Their cars devalue quicker than most other brands and this lack of progression is one of the main reasons….
    They remain fantastic value at 3 years old and onwards.

      All driven by the Chinese government as they could not make competitive ice cars and engines you would do far better for the environment by getting a petrol car and drive it for 20 years instead of an BEV made in china using Indonesian raw materials where they are dumping toxic waste straight in to the Pacific and burning coal and oil to make it.

    This is just a really minor facelift. If they had introduced a higher battery capacity and motor power it would have been a really strong contender for my next car, but 156bhp just isn’t enough.

      @part-of-juffo-wup

      Motor power is enough, but 55kWh @ 100kW is not ok in 2025, especially for the station wagon. It needs bigger battery at least as an option. Even 65ish might be enough

    It’s pretty obvious to me the pricing will start at £36,995 to qualify for the EV grant (even though that will only be £1,500 for this car/brand). It’s got a bit more range, which is good, but is still going to depreciate like a stone.

    Good value at 18 months old I’m sure, but at these prices, not a chance.

    1. @pmholling Avatar
      @pmholling

      Peugeot had already lowered prices, from 1 Aug, to fall under the threshold. My guess is the RRPs will stick there for a while as there isn’t pressure to take them down much further. The current SW GT is £38,410, will be interesting to see where the GT Premium lands

    2. @ISuperTed Avatar
      @ISuperTed

      @@pmhollingTo put in perspective, I currently have an e208GT and that three years ago had a list price over £35,000! Company car so fortunately I’m only interested in the monthly cost, but you can see how much EV prices have dropped relatively.

    Bit gutted with the new design to be honest. The pre-facelift 308 was one of the smartest looking hatchbacks on sale in my opinion. It’s light signature alone with the mean looking narrow headlight unit and the fang DRL’s really gave the car some presence on the road. The new cars design somehow looks a bit off to me.

    1. @TheDigitalDadUK Avatar
      @TheDigitalDadUK

      Or they could have used the 3 fangs on each side like the e-3008/5008….far more distinctive

    Stellantis has two fears: Charging over 100kW and One Pedal driving.

    1. @TheDigitalDadUK Avatar

      My e-5008 charges at 160kw DC but yes..one pedal would be amazing….hoping it comes in an update!

    2. @LaunchKaffee Avatar
      @LaunchKaffee

      @@TheDigitalDadUKThe 5008 which you have does sit on a slightly different platform, giving it a better battery. It’s a really good car but missing Auto/Brake Hold and One Pedal driving is a deal braker for me since I live in a mountainous area and I don’t want the car to start moving when I switch gear and let off the brake. Also unfortunately I don’t think it’s coming with a software update, I think it’s a Hardware limitation (hopefully I‘m wrong though)

    3. @TheDigitalDadUK Avatar
      @TheDigitalDadUK

      @@LaunchKaffeeYes, many improvements have come with the STLA platform. I’ve heard lots of people complain about auto hold. It has hill start assist which works well but auto hold is an odd one as it’s activated off the cruise control. Works well for me but there aren’t any mountains near me 🙈. I’m very hopeful for one pedal on an update as I’ve seen it added to the Renault Scenic just this week and was very jealous.

    4. @Vincelebourrin Avatar
      @Vincelebourrin

      One pedal is the worst… You control less efficiently the amount of braking and it’s also less efficient than coasting and only regen when necessary.

      @@VincelebourrinJust give me the option. Also it’s really handy if you live in a Mountainous area like I do, because no Stellantis car has Auto/Brake Hold

  9. @Sarvari_Gergo Avatar
    @Sarvari_Gergo

    How hard could it be, to make it with 200hp, 60kWh net battery and 200kW charging? That should be the minimum at the end of 2025…

    1. @TheDigitalDadUK Avatar
      @TheDigitalDadUK

      Cost. This sits on an old platform so they aren’t going to do a substantial redesign for a facelift….shame really….most will look at the e-3008 and e-5008 and go that way…..that’s what I did. I already see more of those on the road than the 308 which has been on sale for years. Shame as I’d rather have a non-SUV

    2. @Sarvari_Gergo Avatar
      @Sarvari_Gergo

      @@TheDigitalDadUK I understand this, but then don’t do a facelift. They changed the front grill, added V2L and a ~2kWh bigger battery? Then just wait for the new platform and don’t embarrass your brand with this car. Basically no one will buy it and there will be an Opel and a Citroen and potentially a Fiat as well with the same specs.

    3. @Vincelebourrin Avatar
      @Vincelebourrin

      @@TheDigitalDadUKit sits on an old platform and initially wasn’t planned to be electric at all. This car is just to provide an option and try to contribute the cafe objectives as some company will buy them as company cars. What is surprising though is that the energy consumption is great…

  10. @SektorNL Avatar

    With the e-308 the design was never the problem. This simply shows that Stellantis doesn’t understand how the market is changing and how far behind they already are

    I’m actually worried for Stellantis. So many sub-brands yet all the products are mediocre. The battery in this is too small, the motor weak, heated seats still only on the top trim, and what did the decide to fix – the design. Literally the one thing which wasn’t a problem. 🤦‍♂️

    1. @TheDigitalDadUK Avatar
      @TheDigitalDadUK

      The new STLA platform Stellantis models are far from mediocre….I have an e-5008 and it’s efficient, comfortable, well built and drives really well. The long range and dual motor models when they arrive will be even better. The Grandland (although a little bland) and eC5 Aircross have been well received. The problem with the 308 is that it’s saddled with the old platform so isn’t easily able to used the motors/battery etc from the newer EVs.

    2. @MartinKarel Avatar
      @MartinKarel

      @@TheDigitalDadUK I’m glad you like yours, but I am sorry, they are not well engineered products: they still massively struggle in winter, are extremely heavy, underpowered, FWD based, inefficient, slow charging…

      I agree the interiors are nice but that’s ruined by the software which is ported over from ICE cars without much consideration for what’s needed in a modern electric car.

    3. @TheDigitalDadUK Avatar
      @TheDigitalDadUK

      @@MartinKarelI’ll agree that the winter range isn’t great but that said a recent dealer update (this month) has seen range improved noticeably (just like earlier Teslas). So time will tell. Your other points, weight…2.2 tonnes Vs 2.4 tonnes for an EV9, 2.1-2.2 tonnes for an Enyak….. efficiency in summer, 4.2 miles/kwh which isn’t far off WLTP. Underpowered? 0-60mph in 8.2 seconds is perfectly acceptable for such a car….nobody needs much more when carrying 7 people. If you do the twin motor does it in 6.0 seconds! FWD based is not an issue at all again go for the dual motor with 4WD….slow charging? 160kw is similar to the ID4/ENYAQ, faster than the Ariya and EQB, admittedly slower than the EV9 but for £70k+ you’d expect that! As for the software, it started out buggy as hell but the last update improved things massively. What’s missing from the software that you’d expect on an EV?

    4. @SusieSmart Avatar
      @SusieSmart

      @@TheDigitalDadUKyou mention Tesla … a Model Y Long Range Dual Motor is roughly the same price as the e-5008 FWD Long Range, yet it’s significantly faster, charges from 10-80% quicker and only has 15 miles less real world range despite having a battery a rather significant 22kWh smaller.

      The dual motor e-5008 is only available with the smaller 73kWh battery in the U.K. … it costs £7,000 more than the Model Y, has 70 miles less real world range, is 2.2 seconds slower to 60 and takes longer to rapid charge from 10-80%.

      Oh and as a side note, the FWD Long Range Peugeot is 340kg heavier than the Model Y LR RWD and the Dual Motor version is roughly 200-230kg heaving than the Dual Motor Model Y.

      Similar stats apply for the e-3008 too. So similarly priced, similar range difference despite the much larger battery, slower acceleration, slower rapid charging and more weight (the e-3008 LR FWD weighs 265 kg more)

      Sorry but where’s the engineering prowess here?
