FIRST LOOK: 2024 Polestar 4 – No looking back? Inside Polestar’s crazy newcomer | Electrifying.com

#polestar 4 #polestar #electriccars

This is the Polestar 4. It's the fastest Polestar to date, includes more tech than ever previously and has the lowest carbon footprint of any Polestar vehicle ever made.

However when this automobile was very first revealed in 2015, it wasn't the things it features that got all the headings. Oh no. What broke the internet was the one thing it comes WITHOUT.

That's right – this vehicle has no rear windscreen.

Polestar explains the 4 as a 'D- section SUV Coupe' however I believe the SUV tag is a bit misleading. Does this look like an SUV to you? It does not to me. This and truck is just 50mm taller than an Audi A6, for example. So if you're fed up of endless SUVs, this could be the vehicle for you.

Under the floor is a 100kWh battery with 94kWh claimed to be usable. There are 2 variations from launch – single motor with rear-wheel drive and double motor with all-wheel drive. The single motor has 268bhp while the double motor variation has a walloping 536bhp. That suffices for a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds, which makes it the fastest Polestar developed to date.

Polestar has yet to finalise WLTP figures, but what we do understand is that the single motor variation has a provisional variety figure of 379 miles while the double motor design is anticipated to provide 360 miles. Given that the Polestar 4 tips the scales at a rather porky 2.3 tonnes, those are quite motivating figures.

The Polestar 4 sticks with the same 400 volt electrical system that all other Polestar designs do, however that hasn't stopped the engineers being able to offer it some seriously fast rapid charging capability.

You'll get up to 200kW on a quick charger, which is only a little less than 800 volt like the Hyundai IONIQ twins and the Kia 6 and 9 can provide. You'll also get up to 22kW on air conditioner as requirement.

Bi-directional charging is built-in from launch, but if you desire lorry to load, Polestar says that this will be made practical from a later date.

Sign up with Nicola as she takes a look around the Polestar 4 for the very first time. Are you a fan, or has Polestar gone too far? Let us know in the comments below.

Love to see how it fits someone 6’+, can you get Mike(Postman Mike) into one of your reviews please of have him review it later on. Love to know how it fits and if his head hits roof in back seat or if he can sit behind himself. I think I’d rather want an more open centre console area rather than that two-step style one as I need room for a 900ml water bottle and others may want to put their 1L bottle in somewhere. Beautiful car though overall.

Fits 6 footers well. Lots of space inside.

I’m looking at getting one of these once my Polestar 2 reaches 80,000 to 100,000km, which might actually might be fairly soon given the way I’m driving it around Australia!

Lovely looking car. The lack of rear window will take some getting used too! With performance figures like that I bet insurance won’t be cheap!

Astonishing car. Would love one, just can’t afford one!

I know crash protection from side impact is a thing these days but I wish cars were a little narrower, there are many places where I feel my car has to breath in on our narrow roads these days (actually a breathe in function would be a great feature). Nice looking thing though.

I think it looks very nice the fact it does not have a rear window it’s fine I quite like that look forward to seeing the road test.

Remove the other windows and you have a ‘Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle’, no wipers needed and no more Autoglass, great privacy and very secure! Yes please 😉

It’s a great looking car – in fact since the polestar 1 and 2 they’ve really shown up the previous designs while building on them – quite a feat.

I like the thought that has gone in to the design and features; the only demerit is that the numbering scheme is chronological rather than segment based (which is fine). The lack of rear window creates some issues as the other commenters have pointed out, and it’s too big and expensive for me but the issues also make it stand out in a segment (blobby electric SUVs) which is getting over stuffed and a bit bland.

I hope it drives well and turns out to be a performance saloon disguised as an SUV 😉

Hi, I saw on the website that your team have already driven the new Scenic and e-3008. Two imo quite accessible new everyday cars. Will you do videos on them? I trust your opinions and we will likely buy one of these two cars before July. 😊

We’ve seen walkthroughs already and there’s a lot more to talk about than the no rear window. Time to drive this car already and talk about how it drives.

What an amazing looking car!! The entire Polestar fleet of cars is another level of great design. I will reserve that car ASAP!

Having a clear view instead of partially blocked rear view is a clever idea and makes the car looks even better..

I hope you can set driver profiles, so you can set mirrors, seat, driving options, etc
