    Looks good but the world will have moved on by 2027, and a range of 150 miles from a 40kwh plus battery will almost certainly be beaten by other cars. The Dacia Spring does close to that range now on a 28kwh battery, so a bit underwhelmed really…

    1. @bryanduncan6178 Avatar
      @bryanduncan6178

      I think the “155 miles of range” will be the £17k model with small battery pack. The 40kWh pack will be closer to 240 miles like it is in the China only ID.3 with a LFP pack – but that won’t be £17k!!

    2. @thewelshwarrior4634 Avatar
      @thewelshwarrior4634

      Yeah, 155 miles is less than the Leapmotor T03 (165 miles) that is already on sale for under £17K. By 2027 we’ll have Dacia’s new city car and the Renault Twingo both around 20K Euro not to mention any number of Chinese ‘city cars’.

      Dacia have announced the are starting to develop their new city now and hope to get it on sale in 18 months, why is it taking VW over two years to go from this to a production car.

    3. @ISuperTed Avatar
      @ISuperTed

      Totally agree. There will be half a dozen cars already out before that with better range and prices – Leapmotor T03 already trounces this, then we should have the MG2, Renault Twingo and other Chinese makers for sure. They will still sell some with the badge, but it’s 3 years too late.

      Why would a city car – or really any car for the UK – need to do over 80? So long as it’s got enough poke to keep up with traffic, and overtake, then…

      Our Zoe in eco setting will top out about 70, but it’s still easily quick enough every normal driving situation. My car has nearly 400hp, but it’s never done 80.

      We’ve got a Fiat 500e in the countryside. It has turned my wife’s 60 mile a day commute from a £150 a month expense to a £30 a month expense.

      There are some differences. She plugs it in every night and never visits a petrol station.

    5. @timsmith5339 Avatar
      @timsmith5339

      I would imagine that the 155 mile range version is the 17 thousand pound LFP one. Great for most people. Hopefully there will be a larger battery one, but it will cost more. I reckon the small battery will be smaller than 40kWhrs btw, the E-up! was 36 if I remember right.

  14. @seanelstob5922 Avatar
    @seanelstob5922

    They’d need an absolute minimum real world range of 200 miles if this went on sale right now. I don’t care how ‘affordable’ it might sound. What are VW thinking with that abysmal 155 miles in another 2 years? Judging by the comments, most people seem to agree. Should be aiming for 250 miles range anyway so VW, do better.

    Nice car…but I think EU automakers arent synced up with the new product expectations. The pace of the car market now requires that u show it when it’s ready or don’t show it at all because ppl will forget in 6+ months. Too much is going on to expect ppl to hold out for 2 yrs

  16. @tsedge99 Avatar
