    Seen a couple of reviews on this, so far looks good and if they get the pricing on point, I think it will be a big seller, we need more small decent range EVs. I agree the headlights and bonnet nose has Lambo hints.

    I like the looks and interior, but yet again the BYD pricing in the UK is the same as competitors. Small battery version not enough range (like the base Spring it won’t sell), bigger battery versions priced same as an e-C3 and entry R5.

    What happened to the ‘wave of cheap Chinese cars’ that were endlessly talked about? It’s good we’re getting cheaper smaller cars now, but they aren’t the bargains everyone was thinking they would be.

    Under £20k with 200 miles real world range (i.e. claimed 250) would appeal a lot more.

      The average price paid for a new car in the UK is £42k. It’s therefore around half that price. It’s cheap.

      Its not particularly cheap if you are looking in that bracket. Does the R5 or Inster cost 42K??@presterjohn71

    “Forget the concept of ‘citycar’”! Thanks, Ginny! Looks really exciting, though I don’t get all the name changes… Finally small and practical EVs are here, more the kind of vehicles we like in Europe!

      @RobertDodge

      There is only 1 affordable city car (Well 3 actually but basically the same car) Citroen Ami, Opel Rocks E or Fiat Topolino. Plus with these most if not all parts are produced in the EU. No issues with parts supply unlike every Chinese built car.

    It’s called BYD Dolphin Mini here in Brazil, it’s been a sales hit for more than a year, despite not being the cheapest EV – that title goes to the Renault e-Kwid, or Dacia Spring in Europe. It’s a decent car but early models have a serious rear suspension flaw, it’s super soft and it bounces like jello, cornering can be very dangerous in some situations due to the risk of body roll. I don’t think this issue has been addressed by BYD but some owners have found a improvised solution.

      @@christofferhamiltonjee8499I think I missed that info, good to know. Maybe they’ll update it for us as well. It’s a really nice EV, much better than the Dacia Spring.

    A really interesting car. The version which interests me is the smallest battery one. Forget the “city car” tag and think “local runabout” and you get a better idea of why it would be useful, and vehicle to load might be possible to do vehicle to home (not to grid) with the right hardware at home. (BTW you might cover vehicle to home hardware at some point). In my household my wife’s heart is set on a Renault 5 for a local runabout, so I doubt we will be buying. But this thing changes the game.

    Time will tell, I remember the positive reviews on Dacia’s by car reviewers. Now people are saying I wish I never bought this new Lada. It’s easy to make an impressive looking car to pass a 30min review. Car reviews should be given to experienced mechanics and stripped down.

      In fact, you don’t have to worry too much about the car’s quality. If it’s the best-selling car in China, and China’s annual car sales are about 2 to 3 times those of Europe, and the competition here is a lot more intense than in Europe.

    All EV cars should have a cable storage compartment separate from the trunk. Cables get dirty and you don’t want to unload your luggage or groceries just to access an under-floor recess.

    In Spain, the car will be sold starting at around €11,000 for the entry-level version, going up to approximately €19,000, including state subsidies and BYD offers (if applicable, according to this Spanish specialist https://youtu.be/qFSaLdCiTaE?si=9i0yEH5jRfS8BBxc). This is exactly what the market needs: affordable EVs. An amazingly good-looking Lambo-style front. Well done!

      Does this include a government grant? In my country (Malta) the entry version is being sold at 20,000 without government grant. Only with government grant and scrappage scheme (that gives you back 9000).
