has offered its top-selling supermini a makeover with new styling, more innovation and a longer electric range.

Launched in 2019, the child was the very popular B-segment electric automobile in Europe last year. Regardless of that, the company has actually included a variety of new features to keep the cars and truck at the top of the sales charts.

The refreshed e-208 gets Peugeot's newest design hints which include the brand's brand-new shield logo design, a brand-new grille comprised of colour-coded components, and three-claw LED day-running lights currently seen on the most recent e-2008 and 508 models. There's a set of brand-new rear LED lights, too, while brand-new colours including 'Agueda Yellow' function, along with new alloy wheel styles.

There are more changes under the skin, too. Peugeot has actually bolted in Stellantis's newest 54kWh (51kWh useable) battery and 156bhp electric motor that drives the front wheels. The 4kWh larger battery should give the e-208 a range of 248 miles (WLTP checked), while the 100kW rapid-charging capability suggests a 20-80% charge will take less than 25 minutes when connected to a suitable charger.

    I am purchasing the previous gen e208 in march. With this new model, It is un acceptable that with the reduction in battery costs that the EV version is £12000 more than combustion, think about it, its all the same base parts minus combustion engine related parts switching out to battery, motor and charging parts. They could have reduced the cost by at least £4000. Peugeot seriously need to rethink their EV pricing, car companies are refusing to pass the reduction in production cost to the buyers.

    Finally, a reviewer who realizes that money is an issue when it comes to EVs. Don’t be afraid repeating yourself about that, it’s time people start talking about it. Great review, keep it up!

      They need to stop saying cheapest, and say least expensive instead.

      You’ll save tons on fuel though. So after a few years, the EV will actually be cheaper. They say.

    For those of us who live in cities in the US it would be nice if we got more cars like this (at the moment the Mini is pretty much the only small electric hatchback on the market over here). The assumption is that everyone in the US wants SUVs, crossovers, or pickup trucks, however all of those are pretty useless in an urban environment, an environment where the majority of the population now lives. Even the Tesla Model 3 feels too large to park on many city streets given how parking space is at a premium.

      Wait for the Tesla Model 2 in the next 18 months. I think people will be surprised how much demand there will be in the USA for them.

      Not much hope for you guys considering your best selling ‘car’ is a Ford F150 pickup! Those dwarf a Ford Ranger which over here 🇬🇧 would be described as a large pickup!

    This would be a great car at £25,000 but it’s not £25,000 so will pass. On the plus side this will probably be 15000 in a couple of years, so maybe get it as a second city/local country lanes run around (if my wife ever learns to drive!)

      The reality is you can buy them for £25k anyway and £15k a year old. Not a buy at that point but I wouldn’t get a new one even with a big discount.

    Spot on Nicola. Stellantis have their EV pricing completely wrong. The 208 is a small car with a small battery on an ICE platform, it should be cheap. For £27k you can have an MG4 with a bigger battery and a lot more space in the rear seats and boot. When the Renault 5 and Citroen EC3 come out, the 208 will look even more ridiculously expensive

    1. @ianackery6106 Avatar
      @ianackery6106

      The reality is they sell for £5K to £10k discount anyway. This model of huge list prices then huge discounts isn’t fooling anyone anymore.

    2. @bill_heywood Avatar
      @bill_heywood

      @@ianackery6106 I can see that the only way they can sell them is discounting to a sensible price, so why bother with the crazy high list prices which will put a lot of people off?

    I purchased the same spec in the old version when they first came out 4 years ago.
    That cost me £28.5k so a £7.5k increase for essentially the same car in 4 years.
    It is a great small EV but I think dealers will be discounting these heavily later in the year to meet ZEV targets.

      @ianackery6106

      You can get 10k off them if you look around now. Nice car but as a private buyer I wouldn’t touch them.

    With the pricing they made for E 208, E Corsa and Astra Electric, im not quite sure Stellantis Group really wants to sell these cars???

    1. @ianackery6106 Avatar
      @ianackery6106

      They sell for 25% discount off list price. It’s a ridiculous sales model – high list price then high discounts. Not fooling anybody.

  9. @ianackery6106 Avatar
    @ianackery6106

    I have one as a company car. It’s cheaper for me than a petrol version monthly due to the tax breaks and way cheaper to ‘fuel’ due to home charging. The claim of 5.1 miles per KWhr are total nonsense – I get 4.0 in summer and 3.3 in winter. Yes I know the new version is more efficient but not by that much.

    However, if I was to buy one myself it would be £10,000 more. That’s nuts and I can see why private buyers are put off, especially as the GT model I have is £35k and that’s almost as much as the MG4 XPower. Saying that there are huge discounts on the e208 if you look for them.

    It’s a good car but way overpriced – they need to take £10,000 off the list price and stop huge discounts, otherwise MG will continue to eat their lunch.

    I love it but a nicely specced GT is getting seriously close to Tesla money. The price is just to high.

    Loving your reviews more and more Nicola, professional shoots but still has an aura that seems so casual, like a mate is chatting to you about a car they like or dislike. Tired of the stiffs reviewing cars 😂 keep up the great work. You and Nicki rule!

    It’s almost as if the European car makers are trying to put you off electric for as long as they can. No matter the Chinese will take over.

    To Peugeot’s or Stellantis’ defense, having a regen that won’t bring the car to a full stop and thus force you to use the actual brakes a little will prevent the brakes from rusting and becoming useless when you really need them, which is a known issue for EVs that are driven with strong regen only.
    Beautiful car inside out, the range is just about good. I’d definitely consider a Peugeot EV in the future. Just look at the 3008 with 700 km of range. 🙂

    1. @ad_fletch Avatar
      @ad_fletch

      I much prefer to have the option. Just approach the red light a little faster every so often, meaning you need to use the brake a bit.

    2. @TheTriumfAnt Avatar
      @TheTriumfAnt

      In cold or wet weather Teslas employs brake disc wiping. It repeatedly applies an imperceptible amount of brake force to remove water from the surface of the brake discs.

    Good to see that range has improved. But this is rare instance for me, but i actually think the exterior looked better on the pre facelifted model.

    Thanks for all the “work” 😁. Nice review. Nice car, but at least €8.000 to high in price. We will wait for what Renault brings with the R5 E-tech. More in the €25k section and V2G functionality 👍👍

  16. @riaz8783 Avatar
    @riaz8783

    I think at this point you’d be foolish not to wait for the Renault 5 announcement in Feb. Also you can get a great used e208 for sub-£15k, which just makes the new car look unnecessary.

    I was thinking about getting a second hand one of the old version, but it’s probably not a good idea.

    The second hand value of the old version starts at 20K Euros (here in Germany), and there are a few people selling them for 25K and more. Which is a lot of money when at the end of next year VW will be releasing the ID.2 for 25K Euros here in Germany. So the second hand value of these e208 will drop through the floor when the ID.2 comes out.
